Anyone know the part# for the pawl in the new flattop 44 specials?
Is it the same one in the New Vaquero's?
The tip flush with the bottom shelf/secondary tooth snapped off.
Thanks in advance

Found it!! Pays to check in the box - found my update insert with the part#'s
Now waiting to see if ruger will send me one without a headache.

Well standard ruger crap about it needs to be sent in - that part is not available
to the public. :x
Got 2 on the way from Brownells - They used to be a lot better about this and quality.
Everytime I give them business I end up padding the bill some way to make things right.
But I guess if your the only game in town - other than custom - but even with the fixes
needed you still come in cheaper than a good custom job.

Not available to the public but you can buy one from Brownells???
It sounds like someone at Ruger service is having a bad day....
I have bought parts from Ruger many times and always have gotten the part I needed and service with a smile.
That said, The new Flat Top has a reverse indexing pawl and when the loading gate is opened the cylinder pawl drops completely out of the cylinder window, unlike the regular Blackhawk where the end of the pawl is still in the window when the gate is open. I have no idea if the pawls are different or not but there is something different that makes them operate differently. Your search to make sure you have the proper part is a GOOD idea.
Good luck!! Chuck

i had the pawl break in one of my flattop 44 specials a few months back. put in a power custom free spin pawl and removed the reverse indexing pawl. a free spin cylinder is the only way to go.

Yes, the flattop pawls are different and are a freespin pawl. Brownells sells to gunsmiths so Ruger will sell them to Brownells but not the public. But Ruger won't sell barrels or cylinders even to them.

Operating room is all set to go - just have to wait for parts arrival.
It was either ship the gun off - they wouldn't even offer a shipping label.
Might have been able to push for that.
But I'll pay the 5.99 for the new part and do it - I really hate letting someone else
mess with my stuff except in the case of big machine work and then I pay the best.
I know it has to do with liability but I think ruger takes it to the extreme sometimes.
Especially since most of their stuff must be considered a partial canvas.
Not a big dig at ruger - it is what it is.
