I'm not saying she isn't, but it seems odd to me.

Who said the girl was related to Pavarotti? She sings Italian with a heavy Spanish accent. I'll take the tale with a grain of salt... or two.

(Added later) I did a bit of googling in the Spanish pages. The girl is from the Canary Islands, daughter of a jazz trumpet player from the Dominican Republic. At age 15, she is becoming a bit of a celebrity in Spain. Not too shabby! Now, let's hope she doesn't get burned up by the time she leaves the "teens", like many talented girls with fine voices before her.

Regardless of lineage or lack thereof, there are much finer singers. I believe this song is chosen by contestants in part due to Mr. Pavarotti's making it so very popular. See this 1980 performance:

If you notice I said that "I didn't check but this is supposed to be Pavarotti's granddaughter." That is what was told me when I received the link. I passed it along so you could listen to her voice, not discuss her lineage. Enjoy or don't...your choice; regardless who she is or isn't related to.
