Interesting . . . but there's an awful lot of politics and money and publicity and grant funding involved here to take this without a few grains of salt. They're already talking about big numbers of archaeologists and the like flocking there to see whatever can be seen . . . tourist dollars, for sure. And anything covered by ABC news makes me look a little closer as to what actually happened.
Not sayin' it's bogus, just waiting to see how it plays our after the limelight fades a little.

Probably 45 or 50 years ago I read the same account. I guess the difference is this is a document backed saying the same. There was a article I recall in a gun magazine when a son of Garrett`s was still alive with a photograph of his son showing a Winchester of his dad`s. I cant recall the details but they had met on the trail or road and Garrett was in a buckboard. Think Brazell shot him out of fear of some past transgression in the back as he was afraid he was going to get shot. Faintly seems I recall driving past the spot and there was a sign or marker when I worked in the area for a short time back in 1984. I suppose the county is trying to stir up interest in tourist money. I also recall driving through where the kid is buried in 1960 and stopping at some store and some old man trying ton sell me a old French Lemat revolver that he claimed was the kid`s! Even back then I seen it was polished and reblued. I also recall reading some news article of some old man claiming to be the kid way back in the 1940`s!

Nothing new about this. After their monastery burned in the 12th century, the monks at Glastonbury "discovered" the grave of King Arthur and Queen Quenivere---who were never near there. The tourist traffic helped pay for rebuilding the place. :wink:
