So I have had my SR40C for a week now and have put 600 rounds through it so far. Aside from the initail trigger stcking issue which the gun shop I bough it from it has been near flawless. I had it fail to eject the spent casing twice today out of 200 rounds.
But anyway back to the question at hand. i have noticed when I am shooting, especially at 30 feet and I am looking down range I sometimes seem to loose the white dot sites. Are the high visibility paints for sights and do you guys think it would help. The reason I ask about the paint on sights is I havn't seen any of the replacement tyoe sights listed for this pistol yet.
Also is it odd that I am right haded but left eye dominant. It feel kind of awkward to shoot with my left eye, but after trying with both eyes my groupings are definately tighter and more on terget with my left eye.

Thanks in advance

Matt

A few years back, I bought some of that thick sight paint in the tiny glass vial at a gun show. Labeled "Bright Sight" from Lake Oswego, OR, the stuff sits in a little bin in the fridge with numerous other bottles of red, orange & silver fingernail polish & also super glues & locktites - they will all last practically forever when refrigerated.

Anyway, a drop on the end of a well-pointed toothpick, dropped in to fill the dot wells on your 3 dot sights, will work wonders. I use the fluorescent green, since it's plenty bright in daylight conditions & not nearly as annoying as the orange/red colors.

For front sight post color, I've used red-orange fingernail polish applied over a silver basecoat on my 33 year-old Ruger Security Six & never found the need for real inserts. If it chips, I can simply remove it & repaint - when REAL inserts fall out, as rumor said they can, you're $¢rewed!

Thanks for pointing me to the other post. I must have looked right over it a couple of times today. Looks like I will have to make a trip to Wally World tomorrow, or the mall on Monday. No daughters so I can't raid their stash of nail polish

This works for me, It is a three step process and takes about five or six days for drying time. You can use this on the front or rear sight.
First step paint the dot or sight with white oil base Kilz. Allow 24 hrs. for drying.
Second step paint over the Kilz with the fluorescent paint of your choice. Green works best for me. Allow this to dry for 48hrs.
Then go over the paint with Hard As Nails clear fingernail polish. About 3 hrs between coats. You can use as many coats as you wish, just allow enough time between coats for the polish to dry completely.

You can purchase all items needed at Walley World.

Also a inexpensive set of craft brushes makes the job much easier. Cost about three bucks. get in the craft section.
