I picked up a Pachmayr and a Tyler's grip adapter at a gun show last weekend (for $10 each). Anyway when I got them home and could see them in good light the number on the Pachmayr was 5M. This is an uncataloged number missing in the series.
It didn't make sense that they would have an uncataloged number but Pachmayr quit making them in the early 1970's so it was probably a late manufacture. I noticed that there was no Ruger entry in their catalog which also seemed odd. On a whim I tried them on my Security Six and they fir perfectly. Apparently the mystery of the #5 Pachmayr's is solved. The Tylers' was a brushed aluminum for a Python by the way.
