I came into a P97 with a frame that has the hole where the pin for the sear is broken out. Is this repairable? What would cause this?
I called Ruger customer service Friday but they weren't there. I assume early out for Easter. Do you think Ruger will warranty this?

I made an offer on that and planned to send it in to ruger. I figured they can't fix it but maybe would trade for some other new gun. The only 45 they have now is the 1911!!

I doubt it can be fixed based on the pictures and I doubt Ruger has any frames laying around.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I called Ruger CS and they could not verify if it would covered under warranty without seeing it. I asked if they even had any extra frames before I sent it in. They said they did have extra frames for $60 but they couldn't "just send me one" of course.
So I went to the Fedex store and they wanted $75 to ship it. she knew it was a gun without even opening or touching the box. I told her it was only parts but that didn't fly. I then took it to Officemax where they Fedex'ed it for $15. fyi

You did declare it as a handgun, didn't you? $15 sounds kinda low for a declared FedEx handgun shipment.

Well, after I didn't hear anything from Ruger repair in 10 weeks I contacted them to find the status of my pistol. Today they contacted me and told me they cannot repair my pistol, they no longer have frames for that model. I had called them and they said they had frames available when I sent it in but I guess they don't now. They offered to return my gun or give me credit towards replacing it with another, newer gun . When I asked what gun they would replace it with they said either a P345 or an SR1911. Since I already have a 345 asked how more for a 1911 and she said $460 something. I told her I would call her back tomorrow but I would probably take the 1911.
Now I'm not sure. The P97 that I sent in was a decocker model and I have a P97 blue model that the stainless decocker slide would work on. Or should I get the 1911?
Decisions, decisions, what would you do?

I'd get the SR`1911.They are hard to come by right now.You could flip it and make a few bucks.

So, you give up your P97 and $460.00 for the SR1911? No way I'd do that.

I think if you're patient you'll be able to get an SR1911 in the $600 range. I'd keep the P97, be on the lookout for the plastic part or sell the slide, etc.

Well I decided to get the SR1911, only because I've really been wanting one. There is one available locally for $700. I had about $220 in my P97 and I am adding $461 for the 1911.
I would have liked to keep the DC slide. I wish I hadn't included a mag and plastic box, if I had known how things were going to work out I wouldn't have. I asked for them back but it doesn't look like I am going to get it.

I am super suprised by this. I just had the frame replaced on my second p97 because of wear. Also had a full refurb done. Total was 145. got it back last Thursday. Can't belive they told you that.

Now with my first p97 they told me they couldn't replace the cracked frame because of a system issue and I would have to wait 3 to 4 weeks so they offered me a 1911 but I only paid $79. And the frame cracked because I dropped it on concrete.
