I've been shooting a P97 since 2001 and have sent thousands of rounds down range with it with nary a complaint that I didn't cause. I'm wondering if this is one of those or something new.
I was towards the end of a class Saturday having shot in the neighborhood of 200 rounds of 230 grain lead reloads when the gun malfunctioned. It was during a move and fire exercise so I had to keep moving while trying to diagnose the problem (occasionally yelling bang bang so they knew I was serious).
I finally figured out the slide stop had come part way out. I figured then that I'd pushed the back side of it somehow but in poking around the internet I find that this was an early problem with the P97. Is this the beginning of something for this gun or do you think this is a one time affair caused by fat fingers?
On a semi-related note I had some feeding failures which one of the instructors thinks may be a weak magazine spring. How would I test for such a thing and, if so, are the extra power Wolff springs worth the increased cost?
