Never had any problems with mine, the P97 and P95 are great pistols but just a little bulky for CC.

I carried a P97 every day for about 6 yrs. Mine was one of the ones the slide lock backed out at about 300 rds. A call to Ruger and the nice lady sent me a new one and cam block. A quick fix that worked flawlessly for many thousand more rds. After I got sick I let my son have it. Hated to get rid of it but he is getting great use out of it.
A damn fine pistol.

A P97 is a Polymer framed, single stack .45 acp, right? If so, then did the P345 replace the P97?

Yep. I opted for the P97 because I didn't like all the new safety features of the 345. A shame they didn't make the 345 with P97 innards. JMO

I have two. They are fine Pistols. I put them at the top of Ruger pistols along with the P90. The only difference is the P97 is a little easier for a new shooter to limp wrist. I find the felt recoil on the 97 is not as much as the 90, due to the polymer frame. I love both of my 97's and wouldn't hesitate to carry either for self defense.
Some day all the P-series pistols will be a highly sought pistol.

Hopefully my blued P97 will be rolling in after Christmas.....It should go well with my stainless P97...I have passed on a few of them in past few years...but ,I'd like to find a NIB or As NIB P97

I had two. Great guns but sold them when I consolidated calibers and went with 9mm and my P95s over .45.

My P97dc was my first semi-auto, bought about 15 years ago. It has never had a single malfunction. I wish it had a rail for mounting a light or a Crimson Trace laser. I thought it a bit big for carry so I bought the sr40c which also has the advantage of a few more rounds despite being a smaller gun, due to the smaller caliber round. I find the P97 much more comfortable to fire than the sr40c and would not sell it. I now have three Ruger semi's (the third one is the little LCP) and am very pleased with all three. Total cost of all three, NIB, was right about the price I paid a few years ago for a Kimber, which I ended up trading away due to its slight but persistent unreliability.
