Are there any current,or past,LE or government agencies using the P95 for regular duty? I know the U.S. Dept. of Prisons used for a while but don't know if they still are. Is the 3.9" barrel close enough to use for duty as most security firms require a 4" gun for their security officers on post?

Didn't notice that someone else had the same topic but looks like that thread went somewhere else. So,I'm going to ask the same question.

Yes,I love my P95 and it is by far, across the board, the most relaible pistol I have ever owned.

When I was doing work in Baton Rouge a couple of years ago there was a security guard on property that carried a P95. Also there was a Pineville police man that carried a Ruger P95. He told me he went through the academy with it. Pops

About 3 years ago Ruger released a statement that the federal prison system bought about 3,000 more P95"s. The federal prison here in Pollock, La. use the P95. Pops

K...we all know you hate the P95 and that's your perogative,I respect it. However,we are not going to discuss your disdain for that gun in my thread. That conversation is over with. Peace out, bro.

Massad Ayoob's book 'Combat Handgunnery' mentons on page 232, that TACOM (US Army Tank Command had ordered several thousand of the P95s.

The Bureau of Prisons purchased the P95 DAO to replace the Beretta 92 DAO Vertec. BOP went to the Beretta around 2001 (estimate) from the P89 DAO. some institutions have the P 89 and never switched. some still have the Beretta and some (mine) has all 3 which even though similar is a pain as an instructor for most line staff. I have even seen a few P94's out there. Then BOP Special Operations Response Teams use everything from SIG 228's, Glock 19's Beretta 92 DA/SA Vertec. It's crazy to have that many different handguns.

I'm a civilian contractor serving in IRAQ and now Afghanistan. I have yet to see anybody carrying a P-95, lots of Berettas and SIGs however. I believe the US Army issued them all to the Iraqis to get rid of them. Having said that, I sure wish I could have my P-95 here.

Cheers,
W-W
