Having evaluated a great many pistols, I've concluded the Ruger P95 is the best buy you can get in a 9mm handgun. They are not refined, fancy, or "chic"; but they are built like tanks, are dependable, reasonably accurate, and you can't beat the price. In my experience, it performs as well as many more expensive pistols at half the cost. This is a rarity, since I believe in general you get what you pay for. The P95 bucks that trend. Maybe I'd better buy another before they decide to quit making it. :shock:

I volunteer at a shooting range as a line safety officer. I see a lot of P95s. None of the owners are unhappy with them, though some inexperienced shooters don't fully appreciate how good their guns are because they were inexpensive.
For my part, I have bought 3 over the years -- one for me, one for my adult son and one for my son-in-law.

I've put 450 rounds though it with no problems at all. The gun feels good in my hand and does not hurt my hand at all to shoot. Very happy customer so far.

P95s, in the $300.00 - $350 range, are a great buy. It seems alot of dealers are capitalizing on Ruger's recent successes and the prices seem astronomical. In general I must agree, the P95 is one of the best buys on the market.

I gave a new one to one of my daughters. All it did was jam - for her. I couldn't get it to jam no matter how loose I held it, upside down or anything. It is now my garage gun. I gave a Bulgarian Makarov which she is quite a fine shot with.

The trouble with allot folks is they get cheap confused with inexpensive.
Ruger p95's are inexpensive............................not cheap.

Everything said here about the P-95 is true.
One thing that is never spoken of is the trigger.
Loooooong DA Pull with some stacking.
Tons of take up on the SA with a loooong reset (Compared to many others)

Phil....my observations as well. Had a P95 for over a year and I liked it a lot. I agree on the DA and SA pulls...but it was a sweet shooting 9mm and reliable as the day is long. I never had a single problem with it. It was just big...and clunky. Which isn't necessarily bad. But it was challenging for my wife to reach the trigger.
I did recently trade it in on an SR9c which I find to be an exceptional gun! Love the trigger and even with the short stack, it fits so much better in my hand. it also gives me the option - that the P95 really didn't - of being a concealed carry pistol.
The SR9c is my third Ruger - I also have a MK III 22/45 - and I'm sold on both the quality and value of their pistols.

Joking aside the P95 IS a great gun at any price made only better by the fact it can be had NIB for under 350 in most cases. I just picked up another KP95DPR15 which IMO is the ultimate 9mm P gun. Anyone considering a P95 should be confident in making the purchase.

i gave my last one to my youngest son. we shot yesterday and i was reminded of how much i loved it. and my son. great day, dad still out shot the youngsters. old age and treachery prevailed. my youngest had his own P89 at 9 years of age and was safe, responsible and i have never had to worry about him. now almost 27 and still shoots with dad. that P95 and P89 will likely outlast both of us.

The P95 is a good pistol but I ended up trading it in on a SR9. The SR9 is a VERY good pistol.

I still have more faith in the P95 than the SR9. I own a couple of Glocks for duty use but my go to gun for home defense or general SHTF mode is my P95. I have three of them and they are geat! Not so concrned about the heavy stacking DA pull because I never use them for competition. However,I've gotten used to it. In a tense situation,when your life is at stake you can depend on the Ruger P95 and you won't even notice that long,stacking DA trigger pull when you have to shoot someone that's threatening your life. Trust me....I've been there with that gun!

i purchased my P95DC new in 2000. it runs like an old Model "A" ford...never misses a beat...
i did install a lighter wulff hammer spring that helped the DA trigger pull a great deal and have had no problems with ignition...so far.
i am a fan of the 9mm and i do NOT feel undergunned with it or the PC9, even though i do own two 45ACP's as well.
i cannot recall having a FTE or FTF when using it and it will digest any ammo fed it happily; even RNL
what more can be asked of a pistol?
