P944 - Need advice???

So I have found a new P944 for sale at a gun shop in another state.

He wants $439 for the gun plus $20 to ship . . . then I would pay $25 for the transfer.

The gun is the black version, not stainless, and since it is a handgun there is no on site interstate purchase allowed.

What does everyone think about the price? Too high or where it should be. Keep in mind this is a factory new gun.

I passed on one locally just yesterday. Stainless, very nice, one mag, no box ....... $375.00 plus tax. There's lots of other P-Series and/or .40 Cal options out there for lots less money. Now, if you just gotta have it to round out your P-Series collection ..... different story.

They are good guns but I would not give that much for one. It is as has been stated though. It depends on how badly you want one.

Hard call. I really want a black one and it is the only one that I have found that isn't beat up.

If you want it, buy it. A few years from now you won't care that you might have paid a few dollars too much and I don't think that price is too far out of line. I have a SS KP944 that I bought new when they were still in production and it is a great gun. It is fairly pleasant shooting for a 40 cal due to the weight.

Gave $429.99 for my KP944 new in the box back in Dec. of 2001, but that was 11 years ago everything has gone up a lot. I bought a KP91DC about a year ago for $325.00 like new with box and 2 mags. If it's one you really want, grab it, it's hard to find a new in box pistol when they are out of production. You will have a great pistol that will last a lifetime or longer.

I would want to know more specifics on the model and vintage really. (DC only or safe model. Also camblock or swing link barrel.) But it is up to you. If you have looked long and hard and this is the "deal" you found then jump on it. Sounds high to me but most of mine are used. I don't mind a scratch or two because if I use it it may get another scratch.

I have paid too much for a couple of gun purchases (at that time) over the years. Howevever, now I do not remember how much extra that I paid. Plus, I have enjoyed them rather than hoping to find one cheaper and still be without.

If you want it, will enjoy shooting it, and the price is ok for you then it is your call. Just keep us posted.

I traded for a p91 instead . . . Not a great trade but gun is like new and I had nothing invested in what I traded. Just couldn't come off the hip for the p944.
