Question about cleaning and teardown of a P90. To what extent should the gun be torn down for cleaning after shooting? I'm able to field strip the gun no problem. What about the components in the slide like the firing pin? Trigger/hammer components? Should the slide be taken down too for cleaning? I'm not sure how to do it.

FYI, this was my first time out with this gun. Several of us went out today. I went through 100 rounds in this and 50 in my little .25. I shot Tula and Remington with no issues. It was a great time.

I usually clean mine about every 500 to 750 rounds and that consists of removing the grips and soaking in kerosene. All my handguns get the same treatment.

That is as far as I go for routine cleaning. After cleaning, I put grease on the slide rails and use oil for everything else that needs lube.

Is that the extent of your cleaning??? Just soaking in Kerosene?

Just want to make sure I understand that......

Don't own a P90 but with my P85 and P97 I mostly just Field strip. I do occasionally blow around the firing pin channel and trigger blocker with the over priced Gun Scrubber or better yet, plain old carb cleaner. Then a few drops of break free keeps mine running fine. :)

Be careful with carb clean as it will attack many plastics including nylon and delron. I use CRC brake clean with great success.

I bought my P90 used, and I bought a full set of spare parts (less the frame) just to have. It all was pretty filthy, so I detailed the gun (and the second slide) upon receiving it, and haven't done more than field-strip it to clean since.

Incidentally, I'm sort of amazed at how fast this gun cleans up. I had put it away dirty after a range visit a couple of weeks ago (I had to do a talk right after the range), and I pulled it out a week later because the thought of a dirty gun was driving me nuts. It took just a few minutes to completely clean - love that gun! :)

Yep, Fine on the slides after field stripping, BUT, do not use it on the polymer frames. (Be sure to take the grips off revolvers first too) :)
