Which is better a P90 or a P97?
I was bidding on a these two today and the the P90 went for $281.50 which was over my limit and the P97 went for $257 which was under my limit and I won it. I was wonder why the price discrepancy.
I was just wanting to add to my .45 collection. I've heard good things about the P90 and figured a P97 was just as good. Am i wrong?

I have a Ruger P90TH and its a great .45. I see no reason why the 97 would be no different. Never seen a 97 someone whom has one would be very helpful, Congrats

P97s were always less expensive than the P90s.

The P97 is a good, solid pistol with a bit shorter barrel and much lighter frame than the P90.

I'm sure it will serve you just fine.

Love my P97. The first 5 rounds I fired out of it grouped under an inch at 10 yards, right at point of aim. I carry it in a Milt Spars EX, or in a Fobus if I'm "gaming".

I did have an issue with the slide stop backing out during firing, but Ruger sent a replacement and haven't had any problems since.

It feeds pretty much anything; I've had it eat rounds that a 1911 choked on. It annoys some 1911 owners by its very existence - which I find highly amusing.

I put a Hogue Handall on it. Carry it frequently. Wish they hadn't been discontinued.

You'll enjoy it. It's the "Commander" version of the P90.

I have both and like both. The price difference is the cost of production difference. Its cheaper to produce the Polymer frame, than the Aluminum frame. My personal choice is the P90DC. If I had to give the reason, it would be that I can limp wrist the 97 and cause it to not eject, and can't the 90. The P90DC that I carry every day, and shoot quite often, has never made a bobble in performance in the 5 years that I have carried it. I can't say that for either of the two 97's I have, though I like to shoot them. Coffee Pot spoke very highly of the P90 and I think he had a reason.

I chose the P 97 because I was strictly looking for a gun to carry concealed. It is bit easier to hide and I've been very happy with it. Having said that though, and having shot P 90s belonging to other folks, it would be hard to beat the P 90 for all around use. JMO :)

The metal framed P90 allows for more grip options, but both my P97 and P90 have been reliable and accurate. My P90 had some extractor issues at first, but Ruger took care of it and I haven't had a problem since.

The P97 was flawless from the day I bought it. Both were purchased new, btw. Not sure if I could recommend one over the other. I think $257 is a very good price for a quality gun. Congratulations!

Well I got it tonight. Looks really good except for a few scuffs/chips on the polymer frame. Can those be buffed out?
I've got 4 mags coming, when they get here we'll try it out. I like the feel, the dc is going to take some getting used to. All my other P's are sa/da with the safety.
It'll get a good cleaning tomorrow(it needs it) and some lube and it should be good to go. I like the feel of it already. It may be a little top heavy, might be better with a full mag. I've seen worse.

As an owner of two P-series decocker models,...
Trust me...
Easy to get used to!
Betting..yer gonna love it!

Hardest thing I've found to get used to, is dropping the hammer on a Decocker. I've done if a long time, but still point it in a safe direction, and kind of apprehensive, when I decock it.

Nothing wrong with that. The moment one would lose their vigilance when decocking, that is when an accidental discharge would occur.

One of the reasons I bought a P-90DC is that it worked just like the only other big-bore pistol I had at the time, a 1917 Brasilian S&W. The Smith has an edge on trigger pull, but not by much.

I refer to my P-90 as "the fat lady". When she sings, it's over.

Since you are talking about cleaning your pistol ruger polymer is different that other polymer pistols. If you use gunscrubber make sure it is the polymer safe version or it will discolor the frame. Brake cleaner is a no no on them too. Mark
