I got my Ruger SR9c yesterday and I just love it but at the end of the day, I was developing a callus on my thumb. It is caused by that sharp point on the thumb safety. I can easily file it down but then what should I do about the finish. I noticed the finish on the safety is not the same as the flat black finish on the slide release. Is it blue or black? If any of you have made that mod, a photo would be nice.

Smooth it out then use one of these:

Thanks guys! It takes courage to take a file to a new gun. I just needed a little something from the support group to steady my nerves. I got out the diamond file. After field stripping, I wrapped the butt end in two sided tape to catch the filings . The file made short work of that sharp point and after a bit of rounding, I followed up with some Birchwood on a Q-Tip. Now only the 26563 registered users and millions of guests will ever know. It looks like it was made that way.
