I try to stay away from reality TV shows, but I got sucked into one today. A show with a team of two plastic surgeons correcting flaws of the past.

One gal, needing a correction from previous botched surgeries, also had lips like a clown. Bigger than the old wax lips we used to buy in the dime store.

So, for folks younger than me, or more worldly than me, these big huge lips the gals are having installed, are they the new beautiful, and I'm just a dinosaur?

I've talked about this with my daughters. The beauty of the 80's looks nothing like the "beauty" of today. They all try to emulate Kim Kardashian. If you look at Charlie's Angels, or the two women in the bikinis on the beach in the Miami Vice intro--they couldn't even get a job in Hollywood right now. Natural boobs are not in, and your lips have to look like 2 slabs of liver. If you can't sit a 12 pack on your a**--you're outta here! It actually repulses me.

Add the attitude/personality of women who would do that to themselves, ugh...

I am in agreement with others. And no, you are NOT a dinosaur, you are merely not some freak or weirdo seems to be obsessed with trying to warp yourself into not even resembling a normal human being. The amount of money they spend, yes it is their money, has me wondering why anybody would spend fortunes to look like some reject from bad cartoons. I feel the same about them as I did a while back with women going through treatments to pop out as many multi birth litters of kids. Yes, they were litters in some cases. I always said I would tell Octomom and some of them: woman, that is a vagina between your legs not a clown car routine at a circus or freak show.

I think it's their superficiality that bothers me most. The sad desire to look like what some airhead purports to be beautiful and desirable. The fear of not being accepted. Sad, insecure creatures...
And if you tell them that they are lovely exactly as they are they don't believe you.

I'm 76 and have dated and been with many women over a lifetime; all were lovely, each in her own way...it was an honor and privilege to be in their presence. All were achingly beautiful. And the better I got to know them, the more beautiful they became...

And it all seems to be for the purpose of standing in the bathroom, looking in a mirror to get the best angle for a selfie on the phone, I assume to post on some social media site to impress a bunch of strangers who all have the same shallow habits.

To me fat lips, gobs of makeup, shaved eyebrows, tattoos and lipstick are turn-offs. But then, I really don't like much of anything Hollywood promotes.

They all want to be like Lizzo. -- Hollywood's and the Left's current favourite "plus sized" female.

Just went to my 40th HS reunion this past weekend. Great time.

Could you imagine what that will look like with these folks?😨

I think all will be saved at that time as reunions won't be held in person with Social Media taking over everything. Keep in touch online with classmates and even have the reunion just remotely!

I prefer natural. The way God made you. I cringe when I see women covered in tattoos. Their bodies..they can do what they want, but to me it is not appealing.
I remember once when my wife was listening to Dr. Laura on the radio back in the 90s. I'll never forget this comment about tattoos, "Tattoos are permanent solution to a temporary whim." Over the years I have told that to my kids and grand kids many times.

"Vanity of vanities. All is vanity." Ecclesiastes 1:2. Webster's defines vanity as being "...inflated pride in one's appearance: Conceit."

Women (all too many of them, anyway) are absolutely terrified to get old, so they do everything possible in a futile attempt to delay mother nature's inevitable aging process. Worse yet, multiple generations of young women have been raised by their own mothers to hide the telltale signs of aging/ physical unattractiveness. The obligatory "make-up table" in the master bathroom bears witness.

My maternal grandmother (born in the 1890s) was a good example of this. Even in her teens, it was already apparent she would never be a "looker." Fearing no man would take her for his mate, her parents sent her to a woman's finishing school - a place where my grandmother learned how to be more physically and socially desirable. "Marrying her off" was the only way for my great grandparents to pass along to someone else the ongoing financial responsibility of caring for their homely offspring. [My mother shared that story with me.] [Fortunately, my mother did not inherit her mother's looks. Her wedding-day and subsequent family pictures revealed mom to be a very attractive young woman...but of course she had her makeup on.]

I've often wondered...how much money does an adult female spend each year on cosmetic products whose sole function is to deceive others into thinking the wearer is younger than she really is?

Men aren't far behind. Blindly following Hollywood's lead, many men likewise strive to retain the appearance of eternal youth. Facelifts, hair plugs...the list goes on and on.

My personal view is that fear of aging is the logical consequence of the terrifying belief there is no life after death.

I watch Botched, both of those doctors do great work. Yup, lots of the patients are train wrecks and they never add to the problem, they just fix what others have messed up. It has to be horrifying to have a procedure done because of vanity and have it be a complete disaster. On a side note, Dr Dubrow is the brother of Quiet Riot lead singer Kevin Dubrow.

I just went to my bank and the teller that served me looked like a fishing lure. She had rings and plugs hanging out of her face and every inch of skin that I could see is covered in ink.
She was nice and handled my transaction properly but I wonder what she will look like as she ages....

I have several tattoos and when I was younger I was given grief by my family and some employers about them. I have 4 on each arm and a chest piece and none of them are obscene. One employer who had uniforms gave everyone a choice of long or short sleeves except for me. I was given long sleeves and was told to wear them down and buttoned. Times have changed...

I will say that I believe women should have curves...not really into the "10-year-old-boy" physiques. I prefer full lips, but not to the point of absurdity. As far as bosoms...as long as I can tell she has some I'm happy, but I really don't like 'em augmented. Booty can be big and thighs plump, but don't go injecting junk in there to achieve "the look". For visual reference, I'd say Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, or Julie Newmar are kind of archetypes of what I find appealing to the eye.

Buuuuuuuut...I have never cared nearly as much about the physical appearance of ladies as their character. Back in high school when I was powerlifting, bodybuilding, and playing sports, I looked like a Greek god. Girls were falling all over themselves to get my attention, and I could have had my choice from among the cheerleaders and other "pretty girls", yet most of the ladies I went out with were heavy, or plain-looking, or taller than I. Didin't matter. They were intelligent, and had great senses of humor and genuine personalities, and that's what I found attractive. Took me thirty years to realize how lucky I am to not really care about looks that much.

In the late seventies, while serving at MCAS Beaufort, I got into a fight with several other Marines. On Monday, standing in front of the Sergeant Major,
3 out of the five of us looked like some of these young women. Fat lips, dark swollen eyes, extreme makeup trying to cover up their natural beauty, and some even had signs of recent surgery. He told me and the other uninjured Marine to get back to our units. He kept the "ladies" for further training.

Interesting thread. There's another site I go to that has a room called "Hot Ladies." Lots of lovely young ladies in various poses, some skimpily dressed to sometimes totally nude. After going there for a while, you notice that probably 98 to 99 percent all look alike as if coming from the same mold. I call the Barbie wannabees or cookie cutter cuties. Botoxed lips, enhanced bosoms, surgeries to have an extremely narrow waist and some kind of implants to have a huge butt. I'm sure there has been some serious CGI performed on some of the images to accentuate the reconstruction. What I find really repugnant is when one purses her lips like she's blowing you a kiss. They may offend but it looked like a prolapsed rectal orifice. I do apologize to anyone offended Some will claim dibs on a photo they like and if it's for a normal natural unenhanced lady, expect ridicule from the more "enlightened" denizens of that room. If it's one that s extremely good looking, someone will claim either CGI or photoshopping. Apparently only Barbie wannabies re worth admiring.
Frankly, I never much cared for what a woman looked like. My first wife was proof of that fact. My second wife if she bothered to do the make up and bought the right clothes would have put 90% of the women on that site to shame. My current girl friend would probably fall somewhere in the middle of #1 and #2. To me, she is beatiful and couldn't care less what other might think.

I don't know what Heinlein is, but he/she is my kinda person :)
p.s. going to google it now....
Good move, one of the best known of the older sci-fi writers, Robert Heinlein. His quote that is my favorite one:

Women and cats are going to do as they please and men and dogs need to get used to it. It is quite accurate!
