I haven't seen anyone post anything about opening day for baseball? Come On! Isn't it Baseball, Hot Dogs, and Chevrolets?

I found this baseball the other day when out walking our dogs.

I think a little leather condition and it should polish right up...

Anyway, here's to the Texas Rangers not being another disappointment again this year.

Here is to my Reds beating the Texas Rangers!!!

Hahaha. I have pictures of me at 18 YO wearing a rangers cap. Reds, Rangers and Braves are my teams..

If you haven't heard, MLB will be starting, in 2026, a Womens MLB, 6 teams to start. And YES, BASEBALL, not softball was the report I heard. And torpedo bats are perfectly legal as per MLB rules and regulations, let the new records begin.

The last major league game I went to was at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, sometime in the mid-80s.

On the other hand, I like minor league ball.

I'm not a baseball fan....but I spent a lot of time at Memorial Stadium watching the Orioles as a kid...and the Colts.

Used to go to the Flaming Pit on Padonia RD/York RD as a youngster with my friends who were Oriole fanatics....that's where the players hung out.....I had a ton of signed stuff by Palmer, Bumbry, Dempsey, Murray, Flannagan.....went to school with Brooks Robinson's Son....and after high school I worked for a landscaping company and we cut the lawns in Cal Ripkin's community that summer. He was young (1984). In the drive he had a blue BMW and a white BMW.....on his back deck was either a blonde, brunette or redhead...he was a very cool guy and may or may not have tossed a ice cold beer to a young kid behind a X-Mark....

Great memories in Memorial Stadium....chugging Natty Boh beer. Camden Yards is not the same.....being 6'4" and pushing 290lbs I barely fit in the seats. Wife and Stepson went to the opener last night....

Not a big fan of Camden Yards but had season tickets to the Aberdeen Ironbirds, at Ripken Stadium, for many years till the wife had her stroke. Cal's sister Ellie and I bowled together years ago and have tilted a few with Billy. Knew the family but never closely. Still keep track of how the locals (Ironbirds) are doing.

Cal had one heck of a spread off of Shawan Rd in Hunt Valley.....his Brother Billy used to show up at High Tops Bar & Grill on York Rd in Timonium.....is that where you tilted back a few with him?

No we partook in Aberdeen. Another question (nothing to do with baseball) do you travel I-695 toward Glen Burnie or take the inner loop toward Dundalk

Well, I personally don't watch any ball sports .. literally zero !
I like shooting sports hunting, fishing, all of which can do something for me in the form of relaxation or sustenance. Ball sports garmer me zero .

On a quite night you can hear a Chevrolet Rust..

I love baseball. However, the current commissioner is doing everything he can to make it unwatchable.
Over the years I have grown disenchanted with both the money involved, and the way that teams hold cities hostage until they get their way on a new stadium. I am also tired of the attitudes of most players.
Now I don't have cable so I really can't watch baseball anymore anyway.

Even as a kid I found baseball, at least major league baseball, to be boring beyond belief. Beer and decent hotdogs make going to a game a bit more enjoyable, and much more expensive. Back in the days before major leaguers were paid enormous salaries, a city's team lived in that city and were truly a part of the community, justifying fans believing that the team represented them. Today, with players flying in from who knows where, and with free agency meaning team loyalty means nothing, its hard not to see fans as gullible suckers.

I think the last time I went to a major league game was about 15 years ago, maybe a bit more than that, when I was given free tickets to a Saturday night Chicago White Sox game. I actually was given 4 tickets and only needed 3, so I sold the 4th one at the gate for $50 (which covered the cost of drinks and hot dogs at the time). The game was tedious with the Sox losing 9-1, but the fireworks display after the game was outstanding. I doubt I would go to a game now even if offered a few overpriced tickets, free parking and some free food thrown into the offer.

Last major league game I was at was in 2010 (I think). I took m y wife on vacation to Seattle as she had never been there and we got tickets to a Mariners game. Mind you, this was in mid June and we had to get sweatshirts at the ball park to wear to stay warm. Don't even remember who they played and that one game cost us a bunch for food and beverages (several hot coffees). She enjoyed going to the Pike St Market a whole lot more than the ball game but she could then say that she went to and watch a MLB game in person. The one great thing about the vacation was that it never rained once in the 7 days we were there.

Now we go to minor league games and the local team is called a draft league. The league forms teams with players that have been drafted but not yet signed with any ML teams. Really fun to watch the "youngsters" (actually 18 to 24 year olds) playing ball and learning the ropes - and it's a LOT less expensive to have a nice night out. Our very good seats are $10 each and when I by a book of 14 they throw in one extra and several VIP Parking passes.

Been a big baseball fan my whole life, and coached both of my boys through most of their youth ball leagues (hence the user name). Been following the Braves since I was about 10 years old, don't really know why, but latched on to them in the early '70's and never let go. Probably due to Hank Aaron more than anything else.

We'll take the kids and grand kids to to a game every year at Miller Park in Milwaukee, but frankly I enjoy watching my 7-year-old grandson play in his 8U league just as much if not more than watching an MLB game.

We started going to games back in Seattle. I love that stadium. Lots of good memories there. They had the best garlic fries.

Before we bought a house we had an apartment on Queen Anne Hill, so it was just a bus ride to downtown. But I guess we were both 20 years younger and we did more stuff like that. Now we would pay extra for parking right up front. 🙂

I take the inner loop toward Dundalk and get off on exit 42 into Sparrows Point/Edgemere area to Trade Point.

When I get onto I-695 from 795 it's a mess on the outer loop towards Glen Burnie....it backs up 795 up to Owings Mills. I slide ride past and go left towards Towson and eventually Dundalk at the spilt (Dundalk to the right Essex to the left).

"YOUR SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS!" The team everyone seems to love to hate. They play in one of the most beautiful modern stadiums ever (3rd deck has a great view of the Bay when the game's a stinker). The management change really seems to have created a better player-friendly atmosphere. A young squad of players this year could be a lot of fun!
Play Ball!
Duck the Fodgers!

I like the new rules. The money is bad but baseball holds cities hostage at a rate of 5% vs. the NFL. I have internet TV which is not cheap and I still would have to buy a package to watch the Rangers this year after paying ZERO extra to see their games on satellite or internet for decades. I am just far enough from DFW to be considered out of the target market but close enough to not be considered out of market.

Not a big fan of Camden Yards

I've never been to a game at Camden Yard but once a year I stay in a hotel across the street from it. I used to head to the Inner Harbor for dinner and I'd walk past the stadium. I was surprised to see a crowded dining area where people were eating and not watching the game. Tickets are too expensive to not watch the game.

As for the Inner Harbor, the last time that I was there I was dismayed to find most of the shops and restaurants closed and the area taken over by urban yutes.

Baseball, Hockey, Basketball.....let me know when the playoffs begin.....

Sports teams and their playoff and championships make me chuckle. Lose the Super Bowl and you crow about being a "conference champion." Lose the World Series and brag about your league pennant.

In the ancient olympics, the guy in second didn't get a medal or ribbon, or any prize. Only the winners got awards.

All sports do that. The Penguins always talked about how they loved Pittsburgh and would never leave until the city balked at building a new arena.

Teams should have to build and maintain their own facilities.
