First: let me know if this picture is too big. It’s my first picture with this new format.

We were on the beach today. I’m not sure if there is another state besides Texas where you can drive on the beach. But we were out for a drive and along comes the ice cream truck!

Life is pretty good.

My folks used to spend the winter in their motor home on Padre Island, pretty much right on the beach.

If you want to be a good photographer, you need to learn how to edit your photos before posting them. I am talking about framing them and removing the extraneous off the final version. I am not saying everything has to be exactly centered either. I like the picture of the two dogs and since they are looking to their left, one would leave them on the left side of the picture, just a little offset. One's photos don't have to be exactly square either. On the ice cream truck pic, I would trim some at the rear of the truck, as who cares where its been, and leave the front end side as is. Trimming extraneous (I like that word and use it a lot) parts like too much foreground (the sand in this case) or the sky (not necessarily in this picture) in pictures might help. Experiment around to see what you like best and show off your pictures to many others to see what they like best. All the above was just suggestions and not advice! Was only trying to be helpful. Good luck to you in your photographic endeavors.

Thanks KIR. And yes, you are absolutely correct. For the past few years I’ve tried to get away from regular photographs, and tried to concentrate on more artistic photos. i.e. pictures that look less like photographs and more like what someone might have drawn, or painted.

Dog photography is very hard, especially when they are moving and running. On occasion, I’ve tried to get pictures of them as we wrestle around on the floor. Real action type pictures, mostly blurry, out of focus shots, that try and capture the action. But I don’t think those pictures are liked by anyone but me.

I’m between cameras right now, and the above pictures were taken with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I need a new phone, but have heard the 14 will have a better camera than the 13, so I’m waiting…

But seriously, thanks. I do like to receive feedback from my pictures, good or bad. It’s all useful.

Here’s Blizzard, after the ocean, he has to get a bath to get all the sand and salt water off him.

This is something like the style I’m talking about. This was a quick filter on the mobile photoshop app. The desktop version of Photoshop has a lot more flexibility.

I guess it is because I am old, but I can't seem to stop my cell phone camera from shakin'. Must be me. So I got something I can get a handle on. A Nikon Coolpix L320 I picked up at a pawn shop for only $80. Wide angle, telephoto and zoom; fits on my original Panasonic VCR camera tripod. I was given a good suggestion...to go out and photograph something that begins with all the letters of the alphabet. Gave me lots of practice. Digital cameras are the best thing to come along since "cut and paste" in writing programs. I like to write too.

I can take several pictures of one subject and pick out the best, delete the rest, then edit the one good one to my liking. Hell of a lot cheaper then cameras that use film.
This picture taken up at Tahoe next to where the lake empties into the Truckee River, I think is a good example of composition, color, brightness, shadows, sharpness and depth. Good luck with your photography.

We used to spend a lot of time cruising the beach in Daytona, FL. back in the old days.

Then there were the tourist that didn't have a clue about tides. It was a great place to have a wrecker company.

Somehow I knew Wendy would give me a thumbs up on my picture... Thank you.
