I have a 3 screw single six that I would like to "make my own" with some custom grip panels. anyone know who makes panels? Is this grip frame the same as other models(as I have seen other model grip panels for sale on this forum in the classified section)?

Your "3 Screw Single-Six" could have one of two completely different grip frames.

XR-3, 1953-1963
XR3-RED (REDesigned) 1963-1972.

The New Model's, introduced in '73, use a modified version of the XR3-RED among many other designs.

A wonderful article on this topic is hosted on www.gunblast.com and the article was written by Ruger Collector Extraordinaire, Mr. Wm. Hamm.

To add to the above info, many of us have crafted our own grips. Do a search here for info on how to. Plus, you can get some grip blanks from a few folks as well!
(sixshot has some excellent material for you to shape into your own style.)

Sorry!
My single six is an XR3-RED grip frame. The Ruger sight shows a manufacture date of 1970. Thanks for the other info, I will check it out.
