Older Super Redhawk

Recently struck a deal for a Super Redhawk 7.5" 44 here in the classifieds. The serial number shows a 1989 date of birth. Anything I should know about the older SRH guns? I know they haven't made any real changes...just wondering what the general consensus is on the older guns vs. newer. Thanks.

PS: once again, this forum has provided a fairly priced firearm and what I'm sure will be a pleasant transaction. I like this place....

There have been some minor changes to the newer GP's and SP's but I don't know about the Redhawks. In any event the older Redhawks are considered just as good as the newer ones.

Newer Super Redhawks have MIM triggers, bull-profile barrels, and a screw-in front sight base.

Newer Alaskans have MIM triggers. I bought an Alaskan .480 last summer, and it had a MIM trigger. Some Redhawks have MIM triggers and others don't.

Every 2013-present Ruger Redhawk I've seen, has a MIM trigger, but my Davidson's .41 magnum Redhawk that I bought in January, has an old-style cast trigger. So I'm not sure if it was luck of the draw, or something the distributor specifically requested.

I can tell you that the MIM trigger on the Alaskan was exceptional though.
