The little boy had found a tortoise and that became his play toy. After a couple of days the tortoise died, and the youngster was heart broken. He cried to his dad, who consoled him by telling him they would give it a good funeral.
"I've got a nice wood box in the shop, with brass fittings," his dad told him. "We'll get some satin from you Mom and line the box for his casket. Maybe make a little satin pillow."
"And," Dad continued, "we'll dig a hole out near the flower beds for a grave, maybe even make a little marker with a stone. And you can have some friends down and we'll have a little funeral before we bury him. Even have some refreshments after the funeral."
Now this seemed to please the boy, even stop his snubbing. But then, to everyone's surprise, the tortoise extended its head and feet and moved around too much to be completely dead.
The boy sort of did a double take. Then: "Dad, let's kill him!"
