Yesterday my father in law shows my this stainless Old Army he bought some years back at a local show. The gun is brand new never fired not a mark on it. Also has adjustable sights. According to Ruger website it was made in 1994. Can someone give me more info on it. I don't know much about black powder revolvers. What's it worth? No box or papers. Thanks

They have gone up in the past year or so. I was looking for one but each time I missed one the next one was higher so I gave up on getting one. http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?Keywords=ruger+old+army If you are registerd on GunBroker you can search for completed sales and get the price it actually sold for. http://www.gunbroker.com/All/Completed%2FBCI.aspx?Keywords=ruger+old+army&Timeframe=1

Considered THE black powder handgun for shooting & such. The one all others are measured by. Now,,, there are variations of this model, and some are more desirable than others. Backwards rollmarked cylinders, short barrels vs long barrels, etc. A lot of the value can be in the small details.
However,,, if this is a common variety Stainless Old Army, you can get an idea of current values by surfing Gunbroker's completed auctions & see what similar guns have sold for. Just like mentioned above.
In general,,, one w/o the box & papers,, in unfired condition can bring $500-$600 normally.

And just to put it this way, I would not sell my ROA for $5-600 peirod! I believe they are some of the best black powder guns ever produced, I love them and they are great accurate shooters.

Should also be noted: One of Bill Ruger's favorites.

When I shoot mine, I like to do just that,,, a day of Blackpowder ONLY,
Slow down, enjoy the process, the smell & the day.

I have several of the Old Army revolvers and shoot them in our local competitions . Best I've been able to do is 10 shots in 1.5" . It was a perfect 100 at 25 yds.
I like the stainless for ease of cleaning .
I would not sell mine for 5-600 either .
