I've had this Blackhawk, bought used, for several years. A previous owner had installed a Super hammer. I like to make my own grip panels, but with moving, illness, etc., am just now getting ready to put some holly on this one. Upon removing the Ruger panels I noticed a wire brad laying inside. Took a minute, then realized that it was no doubt used to pin the mainspring/hammer strut when the Super hammer was installed.

Was there a grove in the grip frame to keep it place or was it just in laying there loose ?

Loose nail rattling around in there where the spring expands and contracts?
Yeah, don't think I'd be leaving that in there.

Big question is ,,,Where did you get the grip sized Holly to work with?
I tried a couple of years ago and plain struck out.
Let me check--I may have a few pieces in back of the drawer to spare.
