Now in the Class 3 business

Well, I'm in the Class 3 business as of 11am yesterday. I got my first batch of suppressors (demo and sale units) day before yesterday and got everything logged in and on display. In fact I placed my first customer order yesterday for one of my customers who wants to suppress his Glock 17. Now the paperwork wait, one month +/- a week for the Form 3 to get me the suppressor then 2-3 months for the Form 4 with the tax stamp on it for the customer.

My three demo units are:

SIG 516 SBR with a Silencerco Saker 556
Ruger SR1911 with a Silencerco Osprey 45
Ruger MkIII or SR22 with a Silencerco Spectre

I will be getting a couple of different brands to demo so I have a variety of different cost models to fit customers budgets. Actually getting a lot of assistance from the different suppressor manufacturers (and of course getting the sales spiel from the reps as to why theirs are the best.) to make sure I don't give out bad info to a customer.

PA is one of a number of state that suppressors are legal and you can hunt with them also. We have a good Sheriff where I live (in PA the county sheriff is considered the chief law enforcement officer and they sign off on the ATF forms) and he has no problems signing off on the forms.

I'll be taking my three demo units to the East Coast Gathering in October (I got the ATF ok to take the SBR, you don't need permission for the suppressors).

Ron, I will bring my threaded barrel Buckmark and a CMMG 22LR AR15. It will allow me to try my guns out while I wait on my stamp. I only need to lay my hands on some more 22 LR ammo.

Well, don't be surprised when the SBR and 45 aren't as silent as on TV or in the movies. Remember, they are suppressors, not silencers (although a .22 subsonic going through a suppressor is pretty quiet). :wink:

I had never seen a silencer in person, only in the movies. So when a large local gun store had a "silencer demo day" I went. You paid $10 to enter then you could shoot any gun they had and they furnished the ammo. They had deals on suppressors and if you bought one they credited your $10 back.
There where 3 companies there, Silencerco, Yankee Hill, and Sig Saur. They had a couple of different 22 rimfire pistols and rifles, a 9 MM and 45 ACP Glock, about a dozen different AR 15's, shotguns and a bolt action 300 Winchester Magnum.
I was surprised that the centerfire rounds was as loud as they where. It was a different kind of sound, not a BOOOOOOM but more of a PSSSSSLH sound. They had ear plugs if you wanted them, nobody I saw did, but people where standing 20 feet from somebody shooting a 300 WM. It was loud but not painful loud.
