Non-Ruger rarity......

While in Boise for the Ruger display show a couple of weeks ago, I was on the prowl for that "special" Ruger I just had to have. Bad news is that nothing really struck my fancy, that I could afford anyway. I did stumble upon this lovely little Remington Model 600 in as new condition. It is an early production 4 digit serial number rifle and also chambered in the really hard to find .35 Remington cartridge. After a day of thinking it over it became a no brainer. I had to get it and paid a pretty penny doing so. Nonetheless, no regrets yet.

I believe the old Rem 600 was an important influence in Jeff Cooper's origination of the Scout Rifle idea. Great find, let us know how it shoots!

The .35 Rem. is one of my all time favorite cartridges ! Very proficient, a great cast bullet shooter, and in a handy woods carrying package. What more could you ask for ? Great snag !

Nice! 8) I always kinda liked those but they were gone before I really took notice of them. I've come across a bunch but none in the last couple years. The attempt at bring that style back a few yrs back was a farce IMO. Also a darn good chambering too but it might give a bit of a bite on both ends.

Hi Very nice I have never seen one in 35 rem I was going to put a collection of them togather I love the way they look but after I shot a few I could not get use to the square forends they just felt odd

I love those. Local shop has one in .350 Remington Magnum with a scope (can't remember the brand) for $1,000-ish. I'd love to have one to hunt with, but not for that kind of coin. They sure are neat guns and very handily sized.

A real dandy. I never cared much for vent ribs (funny I own a Python) but that Remington is a bit of a collectible. Looks like it was well cared for.

Rob, I haven't measured it, but I believe it is 18 1/2".

I've owned several in .243 and .308, have never even seen one in .35 before. That is sweet! Congrats on a rare find.

Lookin' at that bolt handle, you can see that Remington made a lot of "Enfield " 1917s once upon a time! Seems like they never gave up on the "dog leg" bolt. Lots of gunsmiths spent a lot of time straightening out the bolt handles on '17s back in the day.

Personally, I like it--puts the hand right right above the trigger when you close the bolt. I've fired a friend's Rem 30R, which is the commercial sporter carbine version of the '17, and like the feel of the "dog leg" bolt. ("Looks stupid but it works. So it ain't stupid!")

I like the dogleg bolt handle, too. Maybe why I favor my 77 flatbolt .308 so much. :wink: I'd like to find another nice 600 or 660 in .308.
