NoMo ice

Yep.

Hard to scrape 1/2" ice off the windows!

Can be tough just to get in to warm the vehicle up. We were spared for a change.
Believe me we have seen our share of ice storms. ps

Power was out from approx 7pm Friday night until to 5am this morning.
I got up at 5 and was really dreading the thought of dragging out the generator and before I got to the bathroom, the lights came on. I'm thinking that before next winter begins, I'm going to have a hardwired 10KV propane fuel generator. Son's power didn't get back on until middle of today.
This ice event wasn't nearly as bad as many previous ones. Just a glaze of ice on the ground but 1/4" thick on trees.

"NoMo, I thought you meant Northern Missouri."

Yes, I meant north Mo don't need no more ice. If you're familiar with south central Ia, I'm 35 miles south of Centerville

We're actually quite close. I'm about 50 miles North of Centerville. Nevertheless, that difference is enough that I literally have 1/2" ice over every vehicle parked outside.

It took me nearly an hour to get in one, and another to get it properly scraped and defrosted.
Surprisingly, we didn't lose power this time. A hard wired propane generator is a great idea!

We got a nice glaze of ice followed by about 3" of snow here at the Lake of the Ozarks. Things were warm enough that I didn't have any trouble cleaning off my car this afternoon before the Chiefs game came on.

(The way the Chiefs were playing during that first quarter, I was wondering if they hadn't gotten iced over. I guess they just decided to spot Houston 24 points to make it sporting or something, before Mahomes, Kelce and company just unleashed the hounds. They're already talking about firing the Texans' coach. )

I did a 90 mile work loop this morning and hit an area with 3-4" of slush still on the paved roads. Decided I'd prefer running the county gravels on the return since I could drive safer at about the same speed on those w/o the threat of other drivers. Main highways are wet but not slick but lots of ice falling off the power lines causing a couple of cracked windshields according to the girl at Miracle Ear office.

Severe ice/snow storms and tornadoes, could it be caused by....nevermind, ..."I know nothing".

That forecast is "chilling". I mean literally, the temps were dropping yesterday afternoon and it's 8* now. We lost power again yesterday around 4PM. I'm guessing one of the "bandaid" fixes from a few nights back failed. I'm debating on whether to drag the big generator closer to the house and give it a warm up run BEFORE the snow hits. Maybe even get the little generator out and let it run, too. Seems like a better plan than waiting.

It's 1* here now, with a wind chill of -14. The old ice is still hanging around, with 4 to 6" of snow forecast before a 1/10" coating of new "icing" on the cake.

At least we won't need to worry about the food in our freezer going bad when the power goes out. :)

Now everyone must go to the store for French toast.
Its the law, ya know.
I’m going today for eggs, BB! Have milk and bread. French toast sounds good this morning, too. Powdered sugar one day, syrup the next. Thanks for posting this. I need bacon as well.

Mobuck, I did see the high for Sunday in single digits for you. And more snow middle of next week. At least days are gaining 1-2 minutes of light every 24 hrs.

ICE?!

This is a picture I took from my roof in Longmont, CO, one Spring. There had been
a late snow (witness the snow on the mountain, but trees leafed out), that was
contained on the mountain.

I did see ice on my wind shied once this Winter, but it was gone by about 7am.

What ice?

:D

P.S. The trees were about a block to the West, and the mountain is/was about
fifteen or twenty miles West.

I'm just across the Mississippi from NE Missouri and we're scheduled to get another round of ice and snow starting in the morning..... 3 to 5 inches they say. Only salvation may be high temp predicted at 32 with high of 40 on Saturday but then the temps dip to single digits for a few days. Brrr....

Hang in there MoBuck and Bull Barrel cause looks like you will get it too. I've got family 2 hours south in Jeff City and their forecast is same as ours up here.
