It`s true Bucks, the plant in Canada that makes that particular line of IMRs powders have worn machinery & they`re not going to refurbish/repair/or replace em .

I had a link saved but can`t seem to find it now ???

Chief,

What all do you use it in? How does it compare to other powders for the same cartridges?

Mostly target loads for 308 Win and 30/30 Win with short barrels such as in Contenders single shot pistols. I always heard it was good in straightwalled cases like 44 Mag and 45 Colt but never used it for those. I still have some LC 308 brass that has been shot more than 40 times and if I ever get another 308 I will use it again. With SR 4759 I could get a 168 match bullet to under 2000fps with pinpoint accuracy for low recoiling fast fire 200 yard target shooting.

I've used it extensively in .44 mag and .45 Ruger with excellent results. Miniscule ES/SD and velocity nearly to W296/H110 levels. Great also in my cast bullet 30/30 and 45/70 loads...

It will be sorely missed at my bench...

The following powders are going to be discontinued:
SR4759
IMR 7625
IMR 4007
IMR PB
Winchester Supreme 780
Winchester AA Lite
All Pyrodex Pellets

I printed this list off the Castboolits website on I-31-14.

The posts author stated the Hodgdon rep said they would do 1 more run of SR4759.
Hopefully he is correct.

Alliant 2400 and Accurate 5744 should work well for reduced rifle loads. Accurate publishes data for 5744 with many rifle cartridges and C. E. Harris is well-known for his work with 2400. Both easy to find.

those are not the same, I do use 2400 a lot in bottleneck cases, but its for different uses than SR 4759

I meant the load data and C.E. Harris article is easy to find. I never said anything was the same as anything else, just suggesting alternatives for reduced rifle loads when SR 4759 goes away. There's one in every crowd (sigh).
