Beautiful...just beautiful. On the one hand I could be jealous. However, on the other hand, I can't say that I'd enjoy it when winter sets in. The only time I like snow is to build a snowman and throw snowballs. After a couple of hours I'd likely have my fill. Daytime temps would need to be between 55 and 75 to make me happy. If I could just teleport at will I'd have a solution. I can understand your joy that the cooler temps have set in. Here in Orlando we are going to be in the upper 80's this week. :evil: I can't wait for January!!!

I have my good alpine CC ski's cached down at the river. I definetly plan on giving them a good workout this year.
I still need to get the new tranny on my scandic (skidoo) yet... which is bothering me quite a bit. I am going to be freighting a lot of material to my homestead this winter.
Ahh.. the freedom just a bit of snow can bring...Followed by a warm cabin and a pot of stew and mug of hot coffee........

That sounds great! I have a "safe slope" w/o much, if any, avalanche hazard that offers me about 1,000 vert. of skiing in my neighborhood. I use Fritschi AT bindings and K2 skis with Scarpa boots. I have to be careful not to disturb the Moose, Deer and Elk on my "private" stash...

PS The actual summit of the mountain is another 3,000 feet higher.... and the route is underneath many slide paths.

Flatgate, I get the idea that you and I are the only ones here who appreciate winter!
I have quite a bit of non avalanche mountains I can traverse, that are above alpine. Further out they start gettin kinda narley....
But there is more country than I could ever cover in the course of a winter.
I'll be running my first small trapline as well..... It's my hope to travel no further than Talkeetna this winter. If I could limit most my travel to the skidoo, or CC ski's/snowshoes I'd be very happy indeed....
It is a goal to shoot for anyhow!!...

Now... if I just had one of these baby's!!!

Wow, you don't see them much anymore. There are a few on Jackson Lake, Grand Teton Nat'l Park, but only old registrations are good. No new planes.

I've heard of them on Fremont Lake, near Pinedale WY.

I think they are neat! Good Luck with your Trap Line!

Snowing today.. still to warm for it to stick much... but higher up!... as in home!!... WOOHOO!!!

For those looking at a few posts back... the strange beast with ski's.....
What you are looking at is a mint "trail-a-sled, manufactured by" trail-a-sled Inc", in Crosby Minnesota.. The manufacturer went on to become scorpion snowmobile..
The trail-a-sled, was towed behind your vehicle to the nearest (frozen) lake, where it was quickly, made ready to take you on a nice cruise around the lake. It's cockpit was very airplane like, although a bit simpler.
The first production snowmobiles from the plant looked like this...Snowmachines have come a long was but will never ,ever look this cool!..
