NM SBH Bisley; Tell me what you know

Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk Bisley, brushed stainless finish with Bisley hammer and trigger. Barrel length is 4 5/8 and has not been cut. Bisley grip finish matches the frame. Caliber is 44 Mag and serial number is 86-4XXXX. No mods other than Belt Mountain pin. Have been told this gun is an Accusports limited run.

Are you sure about the barrel length? The Acusport SS Bisleys had 5.5" barrels. Ruger never produced a SS Bisley BH with a 4 5/8" barrel. Make sure you measure from the cylinder face.

The recent Talo SBH Bisleys have a 3 7/8" barrel.

Yes, sure about barrel length. Took gun to qualified Smith who has cut many barrels for rifles and had guns who states barrel not cut or replaced.

If you are correct on barrel length...it is not a factory Bisley.

As far as I know it does not seem to be a factory gun. Bisley conversion perhaps as mentioned. ps

Is the cylinder engraved with Bisley info or is it just plain with no flutes? You could swap a factory barrel and it would never have been cut too...

Cylinder is not engraved and is not fluted. Lipseys told me is might be an non cataloged item and a pre -9 reduction run prior to the 4 5/8 being standard in 1994.

My guess is its a cross dressing 4 5/8" SBH (not that I am judging it)...just wearing Bisley parts...cool gun I bet. They SHOULD have made that model exactly as described.

The previous owner is deceased and his son has no information or the box, etc. The dad was a Ruger collector and the son has sold the 100+ piece collection. A local dealer assisted in the sale and pulled the gun for me as he knew I would like it.

A simple call to Ruger with the s/n will clear up how it left the factory.

The NMSS Bisley 44 mag's with the 3.75" barrel have a serial # prefix of 88-

Not a factory configuration. It's probably a 4 5/8" Super converted to a Bisley. Like this one:

Other than issues with the barrel warning, I don't know how a gunsmith could tell a barrel was not shortened if the factory front sight was resoldered into place.
