Some years back old Pluto was demoted from planet status to something smaller. I never agreed with that but am not part of the astronomical matrix of bigger brains. Now, it is possible we have another one orbiting our sun. It is out past Neptune. The new ninth planet. Its perigee is about 15 to 20 AU (Astronomical Units or the distance from the Earth to the Sun). So it is a fer piece away. What does this mean? Well, in 1976, a writer postulated that ancient Sumer was advanced by aliens from a ninth planet, Nibiru. Supposedly, Nibiru gets within travel distance with the Earth about every 3,600 years. His theory is based upon interpretation of Sumerian art and artifacts. I am not claiming validity here. It is just interesting that there may be such a planet with a long period orbit around our sun.

There have been postulations about a distant planet, sometimes called the "Black Giant" for quite some time. But unless it has some sort of self illumination and heating whatever lives there isn't likely to be able to survive on earth even for a short visit.

That is the issue I have with the Planet Nibiru claim. An orbit so far from the Sun is not going to enable much in the way of life unless it is self sustaining.

I believe I read that many years ago, it was actually called the Twelth Planet ,written by Zacharia Sitchin or some such, and yes made sense to me....hhhmm:unsure:;)
That is the book. It makes some sense considering the Sumerian accounts and artifacts. As for the planetary science, I am not qualified to have an opinion.
