That's another example of Ruger not knowing what they are talking about when they reply about their history. On page 28 of Chad's Reference of Ruger Firearms, Chads talks about the Factory Seconds Single Sixes in the 380,000 to 451XXX serial number range. A lot of the guns in this range had cherry red frames which is probably why they were seconds. They may have never nickeled a gun but they did have a slew of them CHROMED, as Srteet mentioned.
