Went over to a small gun shop about 30 miles away today and found a pretty much NIB 45 Colt Vaquero!

5.5" blue with case hardened colored frame, gave it a good going over and if it's had 2 boxes of ammo through it I'd be surprised.

Can't wait to pick it up after our stupid waiting period!!!

In 40+ years, I've found two gun deals like yours.

One was a 44 magnum Original Size VAQUERO, blue/cch, with a 5.5 inch barrel; found it in a shop near work three years ago.

The second was another 44 VAQUERO, stainless steel, with a 7.5 inch barrel. This one came from The Fort in Big Timber Montana.... down the street from Shiloh Sharps! three weeks ago.

I never would have guessed it was that old from it's condition!

If I understand what I've read online, Ruger stopped the color case frames, but does anyone know what year?

Not too long ago on the New Vaquero Model. The Vaquero's are "case colored".

OK, I thought they stopped while they were still making Vaqueos, before the New Vaqueros.

Thanks!

Picked her up yesterday!

A fine looker she is! You will enjoy!!
I am not (as) disturbed by the fake case coloring as a lot of others are--I have two blued ones with the CCH look, one an original Vaquero .44 Mag, the other a New Vaquero .357. I guess being in Aridzona I haven't experienced the rust issues either--though I know climate hasn't been the only determinant for that. Neither do I think they're the best treatment either and I understand why some folks were disgruntled and Ruger went to all blue (I've got a .44 Special coming in as such and really looking forward to it). But I also like especially the .44 Mag just the way she is (I think the CCH on it is a tad better than my NV). As they wear naturally from use, it'll all be good eventually anyway. Don't like guns--especially single actions--to stay "too new" for long! And...I've been known to accelerate the process on some SAA clones--though haven't tried that on a Ruger yet.

Bear Claw--- very nice find 8) I also like your BALANCE skills on getting the gun on the box of what looks like 22's :)

Actually it's a 20rd box of Hornady 45 Colt LEVERevolution rounds. :)

Flatgate, that is one awesome set of sixguns, I can't imagine how you got a Vaquero and New Vaquero with the same serial number!!!!

Quick question, should a 45 acp cylinder from a Blackhawk convertible, fit in this Vaquero?

I got curious and tried mine, and the cylinder bushing is a hair to long to let the cylinder go in the frame.

This is a new cylinder that has never been used, so I had the idea of having it fit to this Vaquero if it's possible???
