so im 100% buying a new 77/22 but i have to wait 4-8 weeks for it to come in, so now its either stainless barrel or alloy blued barrel? Ive always had blued barrel shotguns and rifles but whats going to hold up better? I clean my guns after ever use so rust isnt the issue its more of a wearing issue? I plan on shooting this new 77/22 ALOT, i have a 9 and 7 year old that love shooting my pump .22 so i leaning towards the black synthetic/stainless combo because it wont show nicks or scratches if my kids do something to it while in the back yard or at the range. BUT i want the classic look of walnut and blued barrel (its just gonna be harder to keep it from getting nicked up). So what would you guys do in my shoe's?

been reading and it seems since the new 77/22 is a threaded barrel its perfect for "floating the barrel"? From what ive read having a wood stock makes it simple to do by yourself within a hour but the synthetic stock needs expert sanding or you will destroy it FAST. so is this a good mod or just snake oil?

I don't believe you or your kids will be able to wear out either barrel in your + their lifetimes, if that is what you wonder.
