Anybody watch this new show starring Katey Sagal? I recorded the first two episodes and watched them tonight. It looks like it might be a pretty good show so I'll continue recording it.

But in the second episode, in the opening Rebel (Sagal) is shooting a twelve gauge shot gun. It showed a closeup of the ammo and it said 12 Gauge #4 buck. But, when she shot the gun there was absolutely no recoil. She shot about 5 shots and it was like she was shooting a .22. There was a little puff of smoke at the muzzle but absolutely no recoil. It was really pathetic. I think that was the worst gun mistake I've ever seen in movies or TV.

they probably shot the gun one time with something close to a real load and realized... this was not going to work with multiple shots... and if the star did that they would have to shut down for the rest of the week while she re-cooped.

I saw a 336 Marlin on The Virginian the other night. I didn't seem to recoil any as well.

I've seen endless ads and promos for it on streaming TV. Peg Bundy doesn't appear to be aging well. And her character looks like a major PITA. I expect it will packed with a bunch of PC, woke, and antigun garbage. I'm giving it a pass unless I hear a LOT of good things about it. :?

I watched the first episode with my wife. She liked it, I hated it. It was so over the top and preachy. I thought she was a good actress in her previous roles, especially "Sons of Anarchy" but in this show she seems like she is just going through the motions and is not at all believable. But at least they are not trying to make the show totally a display of "virtue signaling" as was the show "Tommy" with Edie Falco of "The Sopranos" fame, where of course she had a black daughter, was a lesbian, and was totally sympathetic to the illegal community in L.A.

I bet she would have crapped her pants if some weirdo jokester mixed a live round in with those blanks.

Oh, and before anyone else feels the need to tell me, I am smart enough to realize that all the gun stuff in movies and TV are totally fake. I just thought it was funny and wondered if anyone else saw it. That's why I pointed it out.

OH MY HEAVENS !

Not even - Since the death of Brandon Lee all the Hollywood gun scenes are tightly controlled and under the direction of one person on the set. Revolver barrels are sleeved so if live ammo gets used the bullet jams in the barrel. Semi auto guns have a restrictor in the barrel to give enough pressure to operate the slide with blanks. The rapid fire full/semi autos are modified to use propane - https://www.threatwerx.com/weapon-simulations/
Everybody always complains that you can't have full auto or silencers in CA. It's far from true. All you need to do is open a movie prop business to rent FA or suppressors to Hwood then pay the $75 per item CA tax in addition to the fed tax.

I watched the first episode and couldn't help thinking, "Where have I see this show before?". Seemed like the same ole, same ole to me. Don't think I'll continue to watch.

Gun handling in the movies and TV has been highly regimented way before Brandon Lee... but accidents can happen.

What still drives me crazy is how they are handled and displayed... especially by an actor portraying a professional. I think they should have to go through a multi day course on the proper way to handle a firearm.

As I recall, this occurred on a non-union shoot. Not that I'm a total union fan, but when handling firearms, you want to hire someone with credentials.

The film or show would be more realistic if the producers and directors did what was done for entertainment like "Band of Brothers" where the cast was put through extensive military type training. And if you've never seen it, watch the Russell Crowe movie "Master and Commander" where tremendous effort was made to make the ship and the sets as realistic as possible, and the cast went through lengthy seamanship training so that their actions on screen seemed totally real to life.

I'll watch M&C whenever I get the chance.

As for "Rebel", I figured that one was a miss after the first trailer.
