Picked up a pound each of a couple of new to me powders. Curious to see if anyone likes them, and for what calibers. They are Autocomp and Win 244.
I never found primers to be a major contributor to my overall accuracy in rifle or pistol brand wise and found that mag primer vs non mag didn't make much difference either in the overall scheme of things.Only way to find out is to try alongside known powders. When I am working up loads I'll start with 3-5 powders and 2-3 primers and load 2 of everything and shoot over the Chrono for groups. If anything seems to be particularly promising I'll narrow things down until I find what I want.
I was given a pound of Auto Comp, and tried it in 9mm. Great accuracy at high velocities in several guns, including a PC carbine. I have since bought 2 more pounds. I'm still using 231 in my moderate loads, however.Win 244 in my 38spl and works very well. Haven't used Auto comp.
For rifles, a year ago started using Ramshot Hunter in my 260s. Impressed with it. Just got some Grand yesterday for heavy bullets. Hope it works as well as Hunter. Time will tell.
