I sure hope someone, somewhere likes this time. If I were retired I wood probly love it. Cood sleep late and have plenty time to go fishn and turkey huntn. I wish they wood leave time alone!!

Either way the day is too short! As a child it was explained to me by an Elder. You take a blanket that is too short, cut off one end, then sew it on the other end. Still too short! Tn is trying to stay with Standard time via the legislature.

I always had a problem with celestial navigation and this just confuses me even more when trying to do the spherical trig.... are we now at -4 or -5 Greenwich mean time?

Call me crazy but I like dst. Since my day doesn’t start at sunrise usually, I appreciate the extra daylight at the end of the day in the spring, summer and fall. So what if a few clocks need to be reset or my sleep schedule is off for a few days.

What I want to know is who in the heck keeps moving the dates to when it happens? When I was younger, it was the end of April when we moved the clocks forward,, now it's mid march.

I know the decades old reasons for it DST,, but also know it's not as important as it used to be. Today's society has shifted so much,, that it's not nearly as "important" as it once was.

Remember the "Atomic (Cesium fountain) clock" at NIST - Boulder, CO does NOT get "reset".

There are 24 hours per day. The amout of daylight remains the same regardless what the timepiece says.

If anyone cares why don't businesses just have summer and winter hours. Since we invented electric lights it's pretty much a moot point. My wife thinks it gives you a longer day morning and night. I can't convince her summer days are just longer, and winter days are shorter. Do other countries do daylight savings time or are we just special that way?

I thought it was pretty great when I was working. Starting work earlier in the morning gave me an extra hour to work at home before dark. Until I got caught at it, I even adjusted my work day to "summer hours" meaning I started @ 7:15 AM CDT, took a 15 minute lunch break, and closed the doors @ 3:30 PM. Add an hour commute it still gave me over 4 hours for farm work before it got too dark to see w/o lights.

Talked about for years. Germany was the first country to implement it during WW1. Followed soon by others as a way to save fuel.

Since I am retired they can do what they want. Makes no difference to me. Except maybe for church on sunday. I worked 35 years as a night watchman. About 33 of them were on graveyard so it didn't make any difference back then either.

Once upon a time, while in the Navy, I crossed the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Hawaii. We had to fall back our clocks every day. Just to add to the confusion, we also crossed the International date line.

During the great gasoline shortage of 1974 there were odd and even days for car fill ups based on our license plate numbers. A nationwide 55 mph speed limit was imposed. Horror of horrors, NASCAR races were shortened. An emergency Daylight Savings Time was imposed. That winter morning commuter car accidents dramatically increased. Our kids were at their school bus tops in the pitch black of night.The public screamed at Washington who then backed off and reverted to winter standard time.

I think winter and summer hours for businesses has more to do with weather and peoples' activity levels than it does with daylight (or lack there of) More people out and about when the weather is fair.

And if memory serves, thru that entire year not one single educator was smart enough to change the starting time for school one hour later so the kiddies wouldn't be going around in the dark. And we wonder why our kids come out of school stupid? Brilliant leadership like that, perhaps?

Very true.
The problem comes in with when you get to sleep and when you wake up.

When I was in CO I had to keep track of DST since my daughter, in AZ,
did not have to contend with it and I had to make sure I didn't call them
at a time that disturbed their sleep. Now they live 3/4ths mile down the
road, it's no longer an issue.

To any that say it only affects you for a day or two, think again. There
have been several studies that show a pronounced increase in traffic
"accidents" right after each change, and it tends to last for most of a
month.

Exactly my sentiments...If President Trump said we have to keep Daylight Savings Time, it would be gone in a week...spearheaded by your congress people...
