I've been pondering a 10/22 for while and with a little bonus $$, decided to pull the trigger. I was originally looking for a carbine, for some basic plinking and target shooting, but there's none to be found. The shop I was out had a few Takedowns, gave me a pretty good deal..and off I went.
Followed the Ruger vids, took down the Takedown, cleaned out the factory grease (very minimal...like my previous Rugers) and talked the wife into going shooting!
Bottom line, this Takedown is a hoot. Nearly as much fun as my 22/45 and a lot easier to disassemble and clean! Probably put nearly 300 Federal High Velocity and Match Grade 22s through it....without a single jam, without a single failure to fire, without a single failure of any kind! 100% reliable.
Not only that, at 25 yards it is as accurate as these older eyes can do with the stock sights. I am more than pleased. Thrilled, actually. The perfect Independence Day trifecta - fired up food, fireworks and firearms!
This is my fourth Ruger in 3 years - a P95, 22/45, SR9c and now the 10/22 Takdown. All are superb.
Sorry to be so windy, just wanted to share. Hope y'all have had as good a weekend as me!
