So the wife wants some new sunglasses we went looking at some at Macy’s . The ray bans and other like Maui Jim’s are expensive as you know . What made me mad is that some are made in china and others made in Italy. Get this the china ones are just as expensive I don’t get that that’s BS . They look really nice but spending 200 plus on something made in china does not sit well with me . Well that’s my rant for today . What do you think ?

I've always liked Wiley X. They were made in the USA and the ones I usually bought could be found for under $100. Now for the last few years the construction company I work for provides us Nemesis safety glasses for free which I take full advantage of even if they are made in Taiwan.

There is some less desirable stuff there also but I found a website that often has deals on quality sunglasses. It will let you shop by brand. This past August I found my sister a deal on a pair of Costa Del Mars there. The site is Ashford.com

I have worn flip-ups from Walmart for MANY years.... kids under 6 think they are really cool; everyone else just sorta LOOKS. The pair I have cost about $8 +/- and have been functional for a surprisingly long number of years. I really didn't think they would last 2 yrs.
If you don't need to keep up with the Jones', or, be cool....clip-on flip-ups are the way to rock.

I've worn Ray-Ban glasses and sunglasses for almost 30 years. My last pair of regular glasses were Ray-Ban but made in China. They were without a doubt the cheapest and hardest to adjust glasses I've ever had in my life! They literally fell apart with the plastic things that go over my ear breaking off in chunks. The Ray-Bans I had right before those were made in Italy and lasted 8 years! I only changed them because my Rx changed.
Last Monday I had to get new glasses and told the woman to show me anything except Ray-Bans unless they were made in Italy. I told her why and she hands me a few off brand pairs and then some Ray-Bans. I asked her: Are they made in China? Yes. I just looked at her with the biggest WTF look I've ever given.
I'll still buy RB Predator 2 sunglasses because they're the most wrap around sunglasses I've ever seen that you can put Rx lenses in. It makes all the difference in the world how little direct sun they let in my eyes when riding a motorcycle.
I need to check out the Wiley X brand (y)
PS: Here's what those China RB's looked like after I stepped on them. Cheap :ROFLMAO: (You can see the butchered ear pieces that were like that before I stepped on them.)

Just FYI.....DVX is also Wiley X......I have two (02) Wiley X and one DVX (made by Wiley X). I've been happy with them. So has my wallet.
Went with Nikon lenses and agree they feel thick and heavy, but I have wrap around style frames and they rest on the nose lightly while gripping my big melon firmly.....was tired of glasses falling in the water or sliding up and down my nose.
The Romer III and XL-1 Advanced are examples of Wiley X sunglasses that are 100% made in the United States

My favorite pair(s) ever were Costa Del Mar. They discontinued the exact style 15 years ago, but I still have a couple of pairs of them and wear them nearly every day; albeit with a few more scratches than they came with.

I hung them from my back pocket for a second and backed into a tree. Those glass lenses splattered into a thousand pieces! I never would have thought a $100 (then) pair of Italian Ray-Bans wouldn't have shatter proof lenses, but they didn't!

I'm partial to Randolph, very well made and were USGI issue for pilots not that long ago and think they still might be. I rotate between them and Costa, Maui Jim's( all three made in U.S.A.) and not inexpensive but I take care of them better and also cheap sun glasses for when I don't care if I lose or break em.
American Optical pilot's shades. They look great (not like those silly things Biden wears) and work well with a motorcycle helmet.

I get my prescription safety glasses from Zenni. My wife buys different pairs from them just to mix it up. The prescriptions have always been accurate. No complaints.

I get my prescription lense glasses from the VA as they will do the lenses that change with light. I also buy regular prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses from an American company called Shady Rays. Their clarity are better I think than the ones provided by Uncle Sugar and they have a wide variety of styles. Plus they will replace them if they are lost or broken. Where are you going to get a better deal than that? I actually broke a pair of tortoise shell prescription sunglasses that match my real Ray-Ban's (was offered $250 from guy at a Sunglass Hut kiosk once) and they sent me a replacement right away, I just had to have an optometrist put my prescription lenses in the frames.
My wife also wears a pair of prescription sunglasses and gets lots of compliments on them.

I don't require prescription glasses so far, use readers for fine print or extended reading times. As to sunglasses, I have one pair of Oakleys, two Raybans, one Wiley X, and one pair of Maui Jim's. All are very good, I'd have to say the Maui Jim's are my favorites. I like the amber/bronze tint lenses best. Since I've been blessed with several good pairs, I keep them in different places so I've always got a good pair handy. The WileyX stay in the ammo box on my four-wheeler, the MJs stay in my truck, a pair of Ray Bans in my wife's car, with a pair of Ray Bans and an Oakley left over.

I love Ray Bans B-15 lenses but the better RB's can get pricey.
I go to a fancy, read expensive sunglass store & try on several till I find what I like & note the size & model number. Then when at home it sit down with the lap top, cc & start shopping. Not hard to save nearly half off the big brand stores prices.
