New sunglasses

Luxotica owns RayBan as well as Costa Del Mar, Sunglass Hut, Lenscrafters, Target Optical, Sears Optical, Oakley, Armani, Prada, and a host of other shops and brands.

My RayBan Wayfarers were made in Italy. My Armani glasses were made in Brazil.

I had a pair of Randolph Engineering sunglasses that I lost .

I had Wiley-X wraparounds with a prescription insert for shooting but the prescription frame insert broke and had been discontinued.

Blackburn is a good brand. They are made in Italy and are under $100

So the wife wants some new sunglasses we went looking at some at Macy's . The ray bans and other like Maui Jim's are expensive as you know . What made me mad is that some are made in china and others made in Italy. Get this the china ones are just as expensive I don't get that that's BS . They look really nice but spending 200 plus on something made in china does not sit well with me . Well that's my rant for today . What do you think ?

I have often found Chinese products just slightly cheaper than American made.

Sunglasses with the big names are fashion buys not quality buys. People gotta have what's in so pay the price. I find products that are heavily advertised are often Chinese made. The higher price pays for all the advertising.

I have worn flip-ups from Walmart for MANY years.... kids under 6 think they are really cool; everyone else just sorta LOOKS. The pair I have cost about $8 +/- and have been functional for a surprisingly long number of years. I really didn't think they would last 2 yrs.
If you don't need to keep up with the Jones', or, be cool....clip-on flip-ups are the way to rock.

Not having goggles at the time, i clipped my flipups on my prescriptions for a short ride, and they promptly turned into flipoffs. Dident make the ride any shorter, but at least the sun was at my back until it went down

I’ve had Ray Bans, Oakleys, etc. These did not last. Bought Bolle and had them for 7 years. Decent. Newest flavor is Wiley X Saint. First pair lasted 7 years, and although the lens are fine, the earpiece rubber disintegrated. Wearing a second pair currently. GatorZ Wraptor, metal, are backup.

I’ve had these for years- Oakley “Big Dogs”. They have mirrored prescription lenses, are polarized, and are super comfortable. My wife doesn’t like them because she says they make me look mean. Oh well…

From a few years back. Hair is a bit more gray now.

She’s got some serious vision issues, these may or may not help. But, learning from this early use of AI will hopefully lessen the learning curve for her. Imagine a public restroom blindfolded, they can describe the layout for her, hopefully.

They come in under that. She no longer gets any good from Rx so went with a dark tint and polarized. All in about $370, not inexpensive but as she loves to remind me “how much is your truck payment”.

I didn't read all the posts but for me the dollar store sunglasses are good. Keep several pair for a bit different styles and have a pair in each vehicle.
