Went shopping with my grandson for a pistol, he just turned 21 and got his CPL. He wanted to find a stainless SR40c but all 9c and 40c pistols have been in big demand lately and we thought we would have to order one and play the waiting game, but the LGS had just got a shipment in and we were able to get the exact pistol he had been waiting for. It was a good time and now there is another young man enjoying the shooting sport and one more person who is able to defend himself and his family should the need arise.

Glad you found one, I got mine in feb. finding one was not a problem but I've heard of the recent demand for them. I think you did a good thing picking the SR40c. Its a very reliable, accurate, and versatile. The option to change magazine sizes is a bigger advantage then it would first seem. With the 9 round it becomes very concealable. In the home gun role the 15 rounder is perfect. The difference in the way the two mags conceal is huge. With the 9 round magazine you can make it disappear without too much trouble even in a t-shirt and jeans. I use the flat mag base without the pinky extension. Its more difficult with the 15 round mag but still doable.

Only advice is probably what you've already heard. A good initial cleaning and lube is a must. Oh, and the magazines where very tight at first. But after firing about 600ish rounds using both I was able to hand load both mags without the loading tool to max capacity without too much cursing getting the last round in. Seems like they will never loosen at first, but eventually they give way.

Exactly why I just purchased a SR40C - the versatility. With the 15rd mag, it'll be good for the job - great concealability with the 9rd mag. And I appreciate the advice on the thorough cleaning. Makes a big difference.

I bought my SR40c 8 months ago, and it has been completely reliable and accurate. It was the quality of my 40c that prompted my grandson to choose one for his first CC weapon. The SR40 and 40c are really great pistols for CC, target shooting and home defense.

How tricky is it to disassemble in order to clean the Striker assembly? I have looked at the Ruger video, but it is kind of hard to follow without the gun in hand. I don't pick mine up for another 25 days, alas.

Just push in one spring loaded plunger and slide the door out.
Should take all of about 30 seconds.

Not sure if this is the particular video you saw or not. Its the one I used the first time I did it. Very easy to follow. Same for 9/9c/40 and 40c.
