I was at the gun store today looking for a nice Ruger, hoping for a .357. The shop didn't have any, but they did have some really nice Blackhawks in .44mag. I was just about to make up my mind on one of the Blackhawks when a guy walked in with a gray plastic Ruger case. He was wanting to make a trade on a new Taurus and was willing to trade in his SP101(go figure!). He said it was unfired, I'm not sure about that, but it sure wasn't shot much, if at all.
I let him and the shop deal, and when he left, I asked the shop guys if I could see the SP101. It did look new, all the paperwork, and the 3" barrel, which is what I was hoping for. Needless to say, I came home with a new, or like new SP101, in .357. with the 3" barrel and I'm a happy guy. An SP101 doesn't last long around here when they get traded, so you have to jump on them when they do.
If it wasn't 100 degrees out there right now, I'd take it out. Hopefully it'll be a little cooler sometime this weekend when I'm off and I can give it a good workout.

You are really going to like your SP101. I have the same gun and it's my EDC. You'll be amazed at how well they shoot. Congratulations!

You are lucky you live in a CCW state. Most places in IL do not even carry them. Do you remember how much they wanted for the 44 Blackhawks?

Thanks guys.
They had 2 Blackhawks, both 7.5" barrels and the squared trigger guard. One didn't have a box, but had custom grips and was $399, the other was in a cardboard box, factory grips and $439. They also had a stainless .44mag Vaquero, 6" barrel, in the plastic case, used, for $439. Those were very tempting prices for some fine guns.

I know how you feel Lead. I was in my LGS yesterday to do some horse trading. He happened to have an SP with 2 1/4" which is just what I was after so........we were both happy as the SP came home with me! I already have the 3" er so wanted to try the shorter one. Looks like we're both happy shooters and like you said, since it's about 100 I think I'll wait a day or two before I dirty it up.
