Okay, so do you think Ruger will compete?

This is what I've been looking for, a slim 9mm single stack. Not to knock my pocket LCP, but I prefer a 9mm. I have a Glock 26, that is fat, but I like it. Kahr is good, but getting pricey. Keltec works, but aren't the prettiest girl at the dance.

Okay, is 2011 going to be "The Year of the slim 9mm?"

I would be interested to see just how "slim" it is in comparison to the SR9C, even though the P290 is a single stack.

The good .... no front slide serrations .... no 1/2 inch long 'accessory rail' .... no loaded chamber indicator .... no writing all over it .... replaceable grip panels .... beautifully melted .... grips look very 'grippy' on all 4 sides ..... has a hammer (for those who insist on a hammer) .... probably outrageously accurate.

The bad .... DAO .... not crazy about that really flat front view ....

Looks like a great little carry piece ... 'looks' nicer than my G26 (but then what doesn't ?). :D

I certainly would not expect the Sig to be cheap. Sig is not known for being a low price leader.

It's taken a while. People have been clamoring for this for years, which is why we have things like the Rohrbaugh, and some of the newer makers out there (Diamondback .380, etc). A dealer I know said he spoke directly to a Glock rep about them producing something like a single stack G17 or G19, for slimness, but of course got no response.

I'd guess it'll be between $500-600 .... Polymer Sigs aren't that bad pricewise. Probably right around $550 street, any more and it'll be a tough sell.

I guess I agree with Rev...I like it OK, but would never consider buying due to the DAO. I'm still glad I took the plunge and picked up the SR9c.

Sig could've sold me on this gun if it was set up the same as my trusty P230...DA/SA with de-cocker.....and if you click on that last pic, it looks to me like they could've taken Ruger's lead and instead of adding the thickness needed for the interchangeable grip panels, they could've gone double stack mag and probably not had to add any width.

I'd rather have really thin grip panels available rather than a double stack. Probably wouldn't mind DAO. It would be hard pressed to replace my Walther PPS though.

While I love the idea, I won't be buying the Sig. I DO wish, however, that Glock or Ruger would come out with a similar sized, super-slim 9mm for CC. I'd really prefer Glock to do it, since I am an armorer and can take care of any maintenance or repairs and just flat out LOVE the Glock system, but I'd be perfectly happy if Ruger did it, since it doesn't appear that Glock ever will. I have and currently carry a Glock 26, which I dearly love and can conceal adequately, but I would LOVE something the size of the G26 but single-stack and as slim as possible for even easier concealment. Actually, I'd love it if Glock or Ruger did something like the Taurus Slim 709, but I won't buy a Taurus. Guess we'll just have to keep waiting.

Rev the price point at about $550 street is a good guess, the P250 models have been selling at really decent prices for new Sigs. I like this gun, would need to see it first hand though personally.

LCP & Kel-Tec owners Beware of the New 9mm SIG..

Kinda apples and oranges though, really .... :D It's probably unlikely that someone in the market for a KT would be swayed by a Sig at close to 2 1/4 times the price. If they were willing to spend that, they probably wouldn't have even been looking at the KT's in the first place. I'm not putting KT down either ... my main carry gun is a P3AT.

I likes the looks of it but have only had one of this type of weapon many years ago & it was a Grendel P-10 .380 the great grandfather to the pistols we see now days.
I'm gonna be happy with my P-89 & my two 9mm J Frame Smith Revolvers for carry..
And I hear you on the price difference but that SIG isn't worth $550 IMO maybe $375.. It's not an Heckler & Koch..
Still It looks very interesting..

THere's not a chance that gun will be under $500.

I agree but the fact is that a polymer gun shouldn't cost more then $375 IMO.. More like $300..
The prices on most guns are overpriced..
It hasn't been too long ago that a "NEW" Colt Delta Elite was $500
Now there asking $1000+ ??? Huh??
I have a Smith 940 that I scored for $175 would anyone like to buy it for $900?? HaHa!! It's not for sale but you get what I mean.

LOL ... I agree !! :D

It's been at least 10 years .... probably 15 since the Colt Delta Elites were $500.

Wish they were though.

All things considered ... if a Ruger like the SR9 is $350, Sigs are definitely gonna be more. They're not in the same class, no matter how much people here might want to think they are. It would be like saying HiPoints are in the same class as Ruger, which of course they aren't. Rugers are a great value for the money they command in the semi auto market, but they're still a value pistol, not a high end pistol.

I don't know, Rev. Look at the 9mm single-stack, sub-compact market right now. You have Kel Tec, then you jump all the way up to the Kahr in price. Nothing really in between, that I could find anyway. Myself, I looked at Kel Tec and decided that there were too many problems with them, not to mention that I REALLY need stainless for a carry gun (my sweat must be like battery acid- I have rusted a stainless S&W J-Frame, my stainless P89 and started rusting my SP101) and all Kel Tec has is blued, parked and chrome. If Sig can come in lower than Kahr, I think they might just have a winner on their hands with the P290. Heck, if they get good reviews, the P290 may just be enough for me to consider buying another Sig, which I SWORE I would NEVER do after my last go-around with their customer service!

I have no doubt that the Sig will be very accurate, and reliable as a stone. If you can spend the money, I'm sure it will be a great gun.
