We have known about it for some time, but we gave our word that we would not post until 5:00 PM Eastern time today. Our word is not something we take lightly; I cannot answer for others'.

I truly support Ruger and have a modest number of their guns in all styles and models. This is just something that does nothing for a buyer like me. There most be 15 models of this same thing on the market different name.

I got a email from Ruger today about that rifle, thought it was just about their new modular stock system didn't read enough to see it was a new 22 rifle, just thought to myself great, more fancy molded plastic to avoid putting a nice wood stock on a rifle.

A bolt action 22 rife don't do nothing for me either, nor does molded plastic stocks, I think people now days would rather have the 10/22 and shoot semi-auto keeps then from getting bored so fast shooting a tiny round.

Does the bolt have locking lugs, or does it just lock on the bolt handle.

Also, any chance it will be made available in .17WSM? I would guess that the .22 Hornet magazine would work with minor mods. 8)

Here is an "in-work" review of the new rimfire Ruger:

http://www.gunsumerreports.com/review_ruger_american_rimfire_p1.php

the barrel looks like a press fit with a blind locking pin to the reciever. If a threaded barrel option is not made, hopefully the reciever w/o the trigger can be chucked

It does not appear to have locking lugs on the bolt, so I guess it will not be available in .17 WSM.

Perhaps Ruger will chamber the regular 77/22 for that one? 8)

I don't think so - and certainly not at this price point. The rifle appeals to me.

Haters gonna hate.

Out West....You missed my point. In the baby boomer's world ( and a load of us gun buyers ) with my two 10/22, what and who is their market, and why would I get a 22LR bolt action. I guess I am just getting to old and set in my ways.................

I have several 10/22 rifles, but there are times when a bolt-action might be preferred. One would be using CCI Quiet or other subsonic ammunition that does not have the power to cycle the action on a semi-auto. Another would be in jurisdictions where a semi-auto is not allowed. Another would be where, for whatever reason, you do not want empty cases with fingerprints on them lying at the scene of the..............I mean lying on the ground. :)
