New Pistol

Here is my 5G. I bought it in the mid 80's for practicing silhouette at home. Long before they made an airgun category. I set up my distances by score. When my animal count was similar to my BB and SB scores, I shot from there. Years later when they made an airgun category my distances were within a couple feet of the rules. Usually longer. Now it is relegated to verminator status.

Yesterday, to my own disappointment, but not shock, I missed a red squirrel twice with my air rifle at 45 feet. Admittedly I haven't put much time behind it, or any rifle really, so I grabbed the 5G. 65 feet, pop! red squirrel down. I am a handgunner and bowhunter, but not a rifleman.

I have the rifle version of this pistol....a lot of fun and very accurate. I may have to get this pistol to keep it company. Put a little more challenge into busting the little buggers that are putting holes all over my septic sand mound.
Using the bicycle style pump was a bear.....bough a PCP charger and that was a life saver.

I have the .177 Diana Airbug, put a small red dot on it, does everything I need it to! A Canadian fellow on eBay makes improved capacity pellet magazines for them, in both calibers, but they obscure the iron sights.

@MaxMan you say the gun in the top picture is CO2. You mean with those air cartridges? Does it fit into the cylinder under the barrel? How many rounds can you get per CO2 cartridge?

Yes cartridges. They go in under the barrel. The rifle I have made by Diana gets about 30- 40 depending on temp.

Okay, to make that work, I took the rear sight off, bought an 11mm to picatinny rail adapter and attached a Sightron SRS-2 reflex sight on it. The Sightron looks just like a Vortex Venom or a Burris Fast Fire III, either of those would work fine, I just got a good deal on the Sightron.

Very pretty, shiny air guns there. This is my ugly Marksman 1010 my uncle had in the 50's. His daughter gave it to me. It is spring loaded, shoots BB's and .177 pellets. Inside the original box as a Daisy metal tin.

Got one of those too. They also sold little darts to shoot with it. I used the darts in my Crossman pump up air pistol. The darts make a satisfying WHAP when they hit the dart board. But they also kind of destroy the target after a while.

A couple of things I have learned. Diana has changed a lot over the years. The AIR BUD and AIR Chaser are basically the same gun, both made in China. (Not that is a bad thing) I am thinking about the Air Chaser as I do not care about the wooden grip and I can get the carbine barrel and shroud.
Just ordered the Weihrauch HW70 new model and a scope with it. That will set me back over $500. Already have the HW70 but the newer model has rails and the included Pistol Scope.
The Quality of the Weihrauch is about as good and it is a spring break barrel. I did notice that Beeman has a PCP pistol for around $250 with shroud and if you were to get a Pump, it should not be that bad to fill with the small cylinder. A lot more power and able to shoot in the cold, no more of purchasing co2
