Picked up my new all black P95 today. I knew it was a little heavy but I don't think it feels bulky. Certainly full size though!!! I will give it a good cleaning before my first range trip. What surprised me was the trigger pull in DA. OMG tougher than my SW9VE. That seems like butter compared to this. I know springs need to be worked to loosen up but is this normal for these guns? It must be 20 pounds pull. My arthritic finger feels the few pulls already.

Should get better with some use.

As a follow up I called Ruger and the P95 should have a 9 pound DA trigger weight. Upon their advice I took it to a gunsmith to get it measured and it is 13.5 pounds and 4.5lbs in SA.

Ruger will adjust it and pay for shipping too. I guess I may as well get what I paid for.

In reference to another post..Uh hmm..that's one heck of a unwritten warranty.

Ruger will make it right for you. +1

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

wow 14 pound trigger pull... that will kill accuracy out of the box!

Update;

Ruger rec'd my P95 on 2/7. I followed up on 2/15 for a status, the lady at CS said they are running 2/3 weeks for repair. She put me on hold and came back and said they would ship 2/16 with a two day air. Sure enough I received it today 2/18 and the trigger is really different. So much better. Like a different gun.

Here is what they did;
Extractor.............. Repaired
Hammer Strut........Replaced
Trigger Bar............Repaired

Double action trigger pull measured at 11lbs 12.5oz
Single action trigger pull measured at 4lbs 9.8oz
Measured by Lyman Digital scale.......within factory specification.

Having never shot it I was not aware of an extractor problem. I guess the hammer strut and trigger bar were associated with the stiff trigger.

It's hard to believe that an approx 2 lbs meant that much of a difference but I guess it did because it is so much easier to pull. If it had been this soft originally I would have never sent it in. But I am happy to have it back with the improvement.

Next happening is to hit the range which I hope to this weekend! I'll let you know how it goes!!
