New movie NOT to watch: Coming 2 America

My wife and I tried to watch the remake of Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America". It is beyond bad and we turned it off pretty soon after it started. Not only is it not a good movie, it is pretty gross and vile, and absolutely not suitable for kids to watch. Eddie Murphy could have done so much better, but I guess he chose to cater to the lowest of his audience and just the money and run.

I watched the original and thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. If they re-made that lemon it was only to see how much worse they could make it.

I never made it through the first one either.

Beverly Hills Cop was the pinnacle for Eddie.

I agree, it was pretty sorry--Eddie tried to become a serious dramatic actor and that didn't work for him either.
He was always a foul mouthed comic, but was always funny enough to listen to.
I hope he gets back on track as a funny man, and be happy making people laugh, while making another trainload of money.

I saw the original, thought it was fun but not that memorable. Saw the new one and it was ok but not nearly as good. Not really remembering anything offensive but maybe I'm just forgetting already? My wife has said I go to sleep watching movies, which I vigorously deny of course.

Wife turned it on and I fell asleep within 20 minutes. Woke up at the end and she said I didn't miss anything.

Sounds like it suits the audience it was for. Consider what is "popular" now.

I was at the barber shop and another patron two chairs over mentioned this film and how much he enjoyed it. I couldn't help myself and said pretty loudly "Really, I thought it was about the worst movie I ever sat through". The man who had said he liked it said he thought it was worth watching, but admitted it was not as good as "Black Panther" which made him proud to have descended from Africa. I probably should have kept my mouth shut but at that point I spoke up and said "You do know, don't you, that the movie was total fiction, and that never was a place called Wakanda?". If looks could kill I would have been struck dead by the look he gave me, but he didn't say another word and neither did I.

Yeah, it's on Prime under the "Everything Black Is Required Watching Because Black is Superior" categories. That is blatant racism and I refuse to watch anything that is promoted/preferred because of racist programmers.

Besides, Eddie Murphy hasn't done anything worth watching since Beverly Hills Cop.
