I'd love to try THIS McD's :

http://www.bizpacreview.com/2016/04/18/future-mcdonalds-is-6500-square-feet-offers-bottomless-fries-and-no-15-per-hour-order-takers-330288

The McDonald’s of the future has been revealed — and it doesn’t need $15-an-hour minimum wage order-takers.

A new 6,500-square-foot McDonald’s is set to be opened in Missouri this June and among its futuristic features are kiosks where customers can place their order, eliminating the need for the entry-level positions.

But make no mistake: The more entry-level workers battle for a pay increase, the more businesses, like fast-food establishments, will move towards automation.

Last year when we went to Australia they had these kiosks in place. You order, pay by swiping your credit card, get a print out of your order with a number and go sit down, then a "waiter" brings you your food. I don't think McDonald's is doing this to combat the minimum wage, I think it is to compete with true restaurants with a wait staff. We loved the system. They have pictures and you totally customize your order, like extra ketchup etc.

It was so convenient I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 10 was the operating system! Ha ha ha... This being my attempt at humor. But no really, it really changes the whole atmosphere of a McDonald's.

Read that as profits go up, while the number
of problem employees goes down.

Right here in St. Joseph, MO Pony Express ran out of here for 18 months. Jesse was killed here ,too. and I was born here in 1957 OK back to McD's 15.00 sounds great to do fast food but anyone tell these people that robots don;t call in sick?? or break out front glass on prank phone calls?? I've read where soon many restaurants will be automated

At least one Hardee's in Oak Ridge TN has this. I like it - very user-friendly, and you get a 10% discount on your order just for using it.

I will never do business with a fast food joint like this. Food is microwaved, and awful. I will skip it and go to a local eating place. At least there they cook your food. McDonalds hasn't cooked anything but fries in years. It is all packaged crap. Dairy Queen is better then any of these and Whataburger is much better. When was the last time you smelled food cooked at a McDonalds? They don't cook anything. It is boxed crap. Never will eat at one again, or for the last 10 years.

Different strokes for different... I like McDonalds sausage McMuffins. I don't care for their hamburgers much, for fast food hamburgers I like Whopper Juniors. Cheap, has all the proper stuff and is small enough for a human to eat.

But cheap means you are getting something like sawdust added. Whoppers are the worst. Like wood?

The mc donald's chicken wraps have been really good. Lots of fresh veggies, juicy chicken.

Everybody gives McDonald's grief, but I have found their menu better in the last few years. More healthy options.

Mostly because their "flame broiled" only see a flame for a few seconds.
If they were truly flame broiled (as they were when the emperor of
burgers first started) they would be much better.

With the two in town here, I wonder if they stay in business based on
what gets sold out the back door. NEVER a full seating area and only
a few in the drive up.

Some people wouldn't know food if it bit them in the buttocks. NO FAST FOOD RESTAURANT IN AMERICA can serve anything legally but what they claim is in it. You don't like the way it is fixed, eat elsewhere. I reserve the right to eat what I think is fit for human consumption!

I know that it is popular for some to "bad mouth" "Fast Food Restaurants". That is your choice.

Let me enter a comment that some may not know. As most here may know I am the owner of a small trucking business operating since 1968. Some of my trucks do haul food products such as meat, cheese, eggs, some vegetables, and other foods.

At present, and for decades, my drivers have delivered the same food to the restaurant distributors and distributors to grocery stores from the same sources. For example, the same meat, beef, pork, chicken, eggs, cheese, etc that you get at a Fast Food Restaurant, more deluxe restaurant, WalMart, Safeway, Krogers, Whole Foods, etc., is exactly the same for any of these, from the same producers. We have never hauled bread, since the bread companies usually deliver their own bread to customers.

Not only do my trucks deliver from the producers but at present I have some of my trucks leased to WalMart distribution Center in Cheyenne to deliver the same products to their stores in the Rocky Mountain Region. These same truck, on backhauls not only deliver food to WalMart Distribution Center but also to the Safeway, King Soopers (Kroger), Mile High (McDonalds), etc., all from the same packers, producers, etc., sometimes split loads from the same truck on the same trip.

I again agree with Will. I come from a trucking family, but I was also the designated Representative for the FAA and their local cafeteria contractor for many years. It was what was called a collateral duty to be performed in my spare time.

Peopled loved to bad mouth the food as being low quality or of poor or cheaper ingredients. Nonsense, the state inspected randomly every aspect of the food operation, and I did it even more often myself. The problem lies with peoples own likes and dislikes that they have learned either from home or over a lifetime. Of course we occasionally had a bad preparer, but that was corrected easily.

Another problem was folks just got tired of the menu if it was not changed periodically. That really was the biggest problem. The best contractors had a rotational menu plan that changed every couple weeks.

I still eat fast food occasionally. I used to like a couple things that McDs had, but they dropped them and now I don't really care for their menu. What the heck was wrong with the Angus Burger anyway?

Macy D's has mastered 'fast' compared to other fast food places.... around here they now all have double drive throughs and it is amazing how fast they move.... I'm a food snob and will take my wife out to high end restaurants.... usually final cost is close to $200... at home it's pretty much local produce and meat, but when I'm out on the road alone I want fast... McD's is the poorest choice burger wise but the fast often makes the difference.... I hate going to a fast food restaurant (drive through or walk in) and having to wait 5-10 minutes for my food... especially since I only order by the numbers.

If I wanted "the burger of my dreams" it wouldn't be at McDonald's.
But their bacon egg cheese biscuits aren't half bad. :)

I had one this morning. I always ask for slivered onions on them. It's free and helps out the flavor a lot.

Eventually we will have to move every post on this forum to the political section because you guys can't help but turn every topic into a political rant. A damn shame. The other option is just to start deleting all the thread hijacking nonsense.

There's quite a cry for us to make you stop. Please stop on your own.

The kiosks for "fast food" places are really nice. Locally we have two convenience store chains that use them for fast food, Sheetz and Get-Go. You can customize and order what you want quickly and the wait time is less. Makes good business sense.

The geedunk machines were very nice two decades ago as well. You could pull out a twin chili cheese coneys for a couple of bucks. Didn't mean it was good. Sorry, I will never participate in this.

So what we think you're saying is you don't like fast food and won't eat it. It's tough for us to know for sure from only three posts saying so.

I agree...

then again let's stay Republican and conservative and we keep the current fast food system like it is.... what is it? over half the folks that work at these places are also getting government support?

sorry, could not help but jab back....

Ya know, we talk about the fast food joints automating but hasn't much of retail already done ot or has become "self serve"? Grocery stores went self serve decades ago. Now they have self checkout lanes.

And gas pumps...

Oh wow, I didn't know we were limited to one post per thread. If you read what I said, I never said I don't eat fast food. The thread is about using kiosks to order crappy food. My point was fast food at places that don't cook food any longer. So sorry I used up too much bandwidth.

The kiosks don't serve the food or provide it. It's a means of efficiently ordering in s facility that revolves around getting food to people quickly. Seeing as you don't really go to fast food places I doubt your desire to utilize or not is part of the consideration. Your mindset is different that those that utilize fast food restaraunts. There is nothing bad about automating a system that reduces cost, increases ease of use, increases efficiency and reduces unnecessary labor costs.
