I just bought a new Ruger, my first revolver and second Ruger product. This was a 4" stainless GP100. I thought I was a semi-auto guy but now that I have it I'm not so sure. I absolutely love it. Perfect fit for my hand, nice balance, and accurate. The trigger needs a little working in but is still pretty decent out of the box.

It's a slippery slope.

One is Ruger is follwed by yet another, never the end of it.

So how does it end?

Nature has a cure but I'm not looking forward to it.

A truly fine, sturdy, and dependable revolver in a most desirable cartridge. You did get the .357 magnum, right? With some break-in and maybe a little tuning and some de-burring you will have a masterpiece of firearms technology at your side. Welcome to the club.

Yes, I got the .357 version. I've been mainly shooting .38 but have put a few .357 through it.

Naturally today at the range the guy beside me had a spanking new Super Redhawk in .44 Mag. I admit I can now picture one in my hand...

That GP100 will last you forever :D

There is no end in sight once you contract "Ruger-itis".......I thought I got bit bad by the "S&W bug" but that was nothing once I got my first GP100 a few years ago. Now I have more Sixes than I can count offhand right now, and quite a few GP100's, and a bunch of others. I recently bought a Blackhawk and now I've been looking more and more at Ruger SA's...would love a Vaquero .357 at some point..so there's still lots more I haven't even gotten into. I don't even have an SP101 yet, I've been so busy sucking up Service Sixes......

My S&W's have been relegated to "fun guns" now, and my "serious" guns are all Rugers now. I've been using S&W's less and less for CC, and my 4" Service Sixes more and more. Those are the ones I want in my hand if something bad happens.

I also have a Mark II which I have for target practice. How do the Single-Six in .22LR compare in terms of accuracy? The convertible ones with 5.5" or 6.5" barrels look pretty nice.

My Mark II is the bad boy far over the others. Started shooting the Winchester 36 gr. plated hollow point 1280+- fps. Got fine results.
I just hate cleaning it.

I have owned Ruger revolvers in the past, including a Blackhawk, Vaquero, SP101, and a LCR. I ended up selling or trading them all. I just bought a .357 Mag GP100 with a 3 inch barrel and fixed sights...and it is definitely a keeper. The trigger on it is very smooth, much more so than any other Ruger revolver I have ever had, except the LCR.

The GP100 would be a strong contender for the winner of the "if you could have only one gun" question.

Picked up a 6-inch, adjustable sighted blued version yesterday. Hoped to break it in today, but storms are moving through.

Have the old-style grips on order already. Found everything but the wood panel inserts. Suggestions?

New springs on the way too. Will drop one set stage on the hammer and two on the trigger return.

Looking to add a fiber optic sight. Suggestions? Front only? Both?

I had an SP101 w/ 3 1/16" barrel years back and missed that gun. This one's for the range and to maybe take a white-tail sometime.

Altamont makes some good looking Rosewood and other inserts for the full size and compact Letts. Thankfully, either Ruger had a bunch or someone is still making the rubber grip bodies, I have like 10 of them laying around "just in case" I find a used GP with Hogues on it.

I use a Marbles Orange fiber optic and a One Ragged Hole on my one 6" blue GP100 and it's great, it's more for snap shooting than target work since the dot is so big. Hi Viz makes a full set that replaces the entire rear sight and the front sight, but everywhere I look they're backordered.

Overall my favorite sight setup is just the stock rear sight and a SRH red insert front blade. Someday I will try a Bowen "Rough Country" rear sight, when I get to the point where I can drop $90 on a sight :)

Welcome. I got mine at the Ruger Online Store and they work great. Get the one with six light sticks. The sight will usually drop right in. 8) 8)

One thing that my not matter, but if you plan to holster carry the GP100 the replaceable light stick Hi Viz can sometimes have the light sticks work loose, because there's only a small little tab holding the stick in.

Congrats!

I recently puchased my SP101 earlier this month, and promptly purchased a GP100 6" shortly after! - still waiting for the GP100 to come in  its on back order :x

I have one that was made back in 87 and it is a fixed sighted revolver and my GP shoots real well and groups well also with a 4 inch ss barrel

Williams Firesights on the way.

PM'd 41 magnum about a set of panels for my new grips (on the way).

Lighter springs on the way.

Need a nice rug and hunting holster. Suggestions?

This thing is going to be nice!

I've been looking at a pistol case from Bagmaster. Never bought from them but I hear they are nice.

Kho, I too am a new 4" GP100 owner and echo your statements.

Of all of the handguns I have ever owned, after a single time at the target range last week, I consider my GP-100 to be the best handgun of those I have owned.
It is sturdy and well-made with quality steel. The fit and finish of this revolver is excellent; and like you, the revolver fits my hand perfectly.

I especially like the balance and weight distribution. They allow for a quick realignment on target after recoil. The heft of this revolver cushioned every brand and type of .38 special and .357 magnum ammunition I used during the range session. I was very impressed that my hit patterns on target were smaller then I achieved with any other of my revolvers or pistols.

I have no doubt that I will have years of great pleasure owning and shooting this fine handgun. I wish you the same.

I have one that I have had for years...at least 15 years or more, I guess. It doesn't have the handles on it, which I don't care for anyway. It is a very sturdy case, and has held up extremely well.
