New case for my Buckeye Blackhawks

My boss received about 10k worth of inspection tools for the refinery a while back and they came with a vault 200 pelican case. I didn’t like the way they all fit in the case so I went to Mycasebuilder.com and designed a custom foam that held the tools so they wouldn’t bang together and get damaged.
While I was doing that I thought it would be neat to have a case done for my Buckeyes.
This is how it turned out. I’m very happy with the final product.

Final cost with the case and custom foam was around $150 shipped.

I think I am going to do this for all of my convertible blackhawks if for no other reason just to keep everything together. The design program makes it easy even for a Luddite like myself. The Blackhawk is already in the library and you just click on it and place it in the foam where you want it.

Very nice for sure.

But I never use any foam insert of any kind for guns for long term storage. I've seen too many ruined guns that were left in foam boxes & rusted, got worn, etc.

I DO use a foam case for transport & short term use though.

Just a few thoughts I politely wanted to share.

I would use some car wax on your guns for any longer term storage in the case, (Longer. Not Long term). I use Turtle Paste Wax on all my guns. Don't trust gun oil long term anywhere moisture could wick.

I use renaissance wax on my firearms and survived the humidity of Houston unscathed!
I don’t long term store any firearm in a case of any kind. I do have some fine guns in silicone coated socks to minimize safe dings.
I plan on leaving the extra cylinders in the case, they are wrapped in silicone cloths with z rust pack inside the case so they should be good.

Very nice case!

FWIW, I have been using the old-style Doskocil accessory cases (13" x 26" brown plastic, foam liners) to store most of my handguns for years. Carefully arranged, a dozen guns will fit in one. I do take the precaution of covering the foam liners with a small towel to keep the foam itself away from the guns. These cases stack nicely in my safe, and I've had no bad issues from them, ever. YMMV :)

Pelican cases are great, but pricey. We buy Apache cases from Harbor Freight to store and transport our RF test equipment at work. The most expensive service monitors and signal analyzers from Anritsu ($45k+) come in multiple compartment Pelican roller cases though. Personally, I have several Doskocil cases that are literally decades old, and a couple of Apache cases too. (For transport only)…
