I bought a new book yesterday at church. Its an inspirational book and our pastor made these available at our cost. Its called "the Old Men" by T.L. Jones, and is called "The conversations that help boys become men."
It consists of about eighty essays, most of them only two pages in length. The author is a Christian and uses Scriptural guidelines and quotations, but also adds the venacular of East Tennessee men. There are photos, black and white and printed on the plain paper. And most show men wearing caps and camoflauge shirts or coats. And often times with a rifle or shotgun evident.
There is a comment from his Dad concedrning a tough ex-convict who had been wounded in a gunfight. He claimed he was invincible to being shot. His Dad's reply was, "I've got a .44 Magnum at the house, and I promise you if I shot you with it, you'd die."
There are stories involving hunting deer aqnd bear in the East Tennessee mountains. Just a refreshing read in today's namby-pamby reads.
