Never overturn your garbage cart with your face!

Was working in my yard yesterday when I tripped over my power cord. Fell headlong into my city provided garbage cart and knocked it over. I managed to put it upright and saw no damage was done to it.

But today I have a gash across the bridge of my nose, my nose is skinned most of its length. The bags under my eyes are blood-filled and deep purple, and my eyes swollen to small slits. My countenance would frighten young children, make women faint, even strong men wince.

Nita is properly sympathetic, and keeps me in check. I do apply cold compresses often, but that is boring. My glasses still fit, though are somewhat further from my face. The City Beautiful Commission has advised me to stay home. Masks are mandated, but fail to cover the affected area.

Am thinking of trading one cowboy hat for a football helmet with face shield.

Sue the garbage company for not providing safety cushioning on their carts. Or at the very least not having a "Caution! Dangerous Object" warning emblazoned on the top and all four sides.

I did the same years ago. We had bought a rental and was getting it ready. The garbage cans were tall with big lids. The prettiest hottest woman around lived across the street. She came out, I stepped on the dragging lid and found myself laying in the can full length. Worse, the wife seen me too.
Another time sixty years ago I did a job in the NPS picking up trash in the campgrounds and resorts. A group of girls stood to one side as if getting ready to see a show. That should have tipped me off. I was huge and strong back then. They had put light trash on top of maybe 40 gallons of waste slop. When I grabbed the can, threw it in that leech body truck the slop made a perfect high ark drenching me. It worked perfect-- for their entertainment.

Hi,

Good thing Bob doesn't live in CA: there would have to be a Prop 65 warning too, though I'm not real sure how a garbage can might cause cancer.

Mostly too late now but ice and pressure applied immediately after
the smack is a good thing.
I think the face is the fastest healing part of the body so the
purple will turn green and brown pretty quick.
Look at the bright side you didn't break it and...you don't
need to shave it!
No offense meant and hope the moderators are ok with it...
standard reply is......." clumsy bastard! "
Feel better

If it's in California, believe me, they think it will cause cancer. Little do they realize that it's their govenment that is the real cancer in that state.

need to add the company that made the power cord....

I keep meaning to contact my lawyer and start the law suit against Cabot Cheese ..... their Seriously Sharp Cheddar caused my heart attack.

I'd bet none of 'us" are as agile and quick as we used to be. I know for sure that I tip over easier than before I had the hip replaced. In fact I've got to the point of just trying to fall gracefully and hope to land on something soft.
It's reached a point where going to check the goat pasture often ends with me on the ground since I can't seem to lift my feet high enough part of the time. One of the guard dogs is a young male of about 140# and he's become my support dog. Rarely is he more than a few feet away so if I do trip he's right there. I just say "Duke help me up" and he's beside me tensed up so I can use him like a saw horse for support.

Bob, I am sorry to hear of your plight. Mobuck, I understand too! Wednesday I was out on the power line showing some people my cedar trees that they could pick and cut for C-trees, when I tripped over a log, I ended up with an ripped hamstring muscle Left leg. Arrrg! Y’all be careful out there. The demons are out to get us!

Hey don't forget the ladder that was poorly designed and improperly placarded that tried to kill you.
You could be a wealthy man if you live long enough.

I'm definitely doing everything I can to "stay vertical" on our icy parking lots. I don't think my surgeon would give me any warranty work on my new knee replacement.
